Moto Bicycles Pedals
« on: April 05, 2012, 12:28:59 PM »
If you have been riding for some time then you may have heard of Ali Barjesteh from Berlin, Germany. Lately we haven't heard much of Ali but that's because he's working on a new project called Moto Bicycles. He invented some really thin and light pedals which use grip tape. They weigh 300g / 10.5oz (pair) and are 15mm thick. At the moment the pedals are being tested and they will be available towards the mid of 2012.  Take a look at www.motobicycles.com for further information in German.

Yup wood pedals, mini skateboards.
All things in life are temporary. If going well...enjoy it, they will not last forever. If going wrong don’t worry, they can't last long either.

I really hope Ali has success with this. He did put a lot of work (and money) in this project.

I just hope they aren't too expensive. But I'm sure many hipster/fixie riders will buy them for any prize! :)

they've used flat wooden pedals kind of similar to this on excersize bikes for years. i'd be concerned with the ends and whatnot getting frayed or bungled from hitting the ground a lot, but that's what testing is for :)

My pedals hit the ground all the time. The ends of them are all f*cked up and they're plastic. Imagine will happen to wood. Actually the only thing keeping my pedal from totally exploding is that the spindle is taking most of them impact. Not to mention water getting to them and stuff like that. Cool concept but it just screams bad idea.

I would like to try them either just to feel how it is. You can paint them in any color and they wont look like wooden. Yes, they will be damaged by often falls but wait nothing lasts forever! I think it`ll depend on riding and "falling" style.
To make review - every new product is good for the market cause it gives more variety.  You don`t need to buy it but assume that some others will do it. Like me IF PRICE is not from luxury product. Don`t blame someone for using not typical materials. With that opinion we would still ride on heavy steel frames.

P.S. some time ago I bought "best plastic ever super durable" barends (I won`t name company cause it`s not a good tone). I was really surprised when it cracked after 1-1,5 weeks of easy riding.
Better to ride not so smooth but with your own style, than trying to be a copy.
