abozny's bike check
« on: April 03, 2012, 03:00:36 PM »

Here's my baby:

  • FRAME : We the People Envy 2009 20.75" TT
  • FORK : Colony Official V3
  • RIMS : Alexrims Supra Dome
  • HUBS : Salt AM/G-Sport 10t RHD
  • TIRES : Colony-Front 2.1" / Animal-Rear 2.1"
  • CRANKS : Mankind 175mm
  • SPROCKET : Stolen 25t
  • BARS : WTP Helium 8.25"
  • STEM : DK Alpha
  • PEDALS : éclat
  • PEGS : Salt Alu LHS / KGB RHS
  • SEAT : Shadow Conspiracy uni
My bike is a dual purpose street/flatland bike. I often ride on broken glass and that is why I chose the rear tire. The front Colony has super grip for my shoes. The frame is big by flatland standards, but I need lots of room. The fork seems steep enough as it is. I bought almost all of the parts used.

Very cool!  What do you think of those big tires for flat use?

They're not that wide but not skinny either. The front says 2.2 but it is more like 2 in my opinion. The Colony Avenger front tire is really sticky for my shoes. It was a fluke that I got this tire and it has lasted a long time and I will definitely be getting another one. The rear is too heavy but a necessity because there is always a lot of glass where I ride. Lighter tires are thin and then it gets too aggravating getting flat tires. You can keep the pressure high in both tires. Maybe a real flatlander would scoff at the tires, but for me they work OK. They are heavier tires but as Matt Wilhelm said, he learned how to ride flatland on a 40 pound bike. My bike is between 23 and 24 pounds.

Like I always tell my friends : "I may not be the best rider, but I definitely have the coolest bike!"

Now I can back up this statement with this contest win!

Hey I may never ever win a flat contest or even qualify for that matter - so this is great motivation for me to go out and bust my ass even more practicing. I don't want to insult my bike with sloppy moves LOL :-)

Thanks to you guys for picking my bike, I really appreciate it.
