the sprocket should just slide off the axle.

Give that sprocket a little whack...as for the bolt on the left side, it should loosen clockwise

ahh clockwise..i remember reading that somewhere too. Is that the only part on the bike that loosens that way?

I guess my bigger issue now is that I have a freespining starnut. I was going to try banging it out from the bottom, but I'm going to take a long screwdriver from work and hopefully be able to hold the starnut in place while I loosen the compression bolt.

The left pedal is clockwise also.  As for the star nut, hit it from the top, the flange will no let it move upward. I remember swearing a lot when doing this.

Thats what i thought as i was hitting it from the bottom yesterday. And yea I was swearing alot also lol. Hitting it from the top might be an issue though. The compression bolt that I have has a hole in the center, and a cap around it. I'm guessing I'm going to have to cut the cap?

Didn't know the bolt was still on top..makes it harder. Go from the bottom and break or bend those flanges off with a  screwdriver.

I was able to get it out during lunch. I pushed a skinny screwdriver under the cap and applied pressure upward on it while loosening the bolt. Off to get a new starnut and bearings after later.
