Gear Ratio
« on: April 26, 2011, 06:36:34 AM »
What gear ratio would you recommend for riding around town and whatnot? Im going away to San Diego State for college next year, and my bike will be my main source of transportation...my current gearing is definitely not going to cut a ride of ANY length hahah. Thanks in advance.

25/9 here, but then again I am not willing to deviate from the equivalent to the old 44/16 (25/9 is roughly the same)

i'd recommend the gear ratio that feels right for you with a conclusion that comes from you engaging in a little trial and error. what ever happend to figuring out stuff for yourself? just wonderin'!!

Exactly. Don't feel like spending $100 on sprockets. I just wanted a ballpark range, and 23-25 / 9 seems to be it. Now I can hopefully only buy one sprocket, maybe 2, and not blow a ton of cash! Thanks everyone

Well, why is this forum here since we can all buy every bike part sold and figure it out for ourselves. Man dodo, why do you even talk?
