lets talk about hybrids
« on: April 14, 2011, 04:02:05 PM »
i have 2 bikes at the moment, one has 1.75 tires and the other has 1.95 & 2.10 on the front.
the flatland bike one has 19.3 tt-13.cs-75ha,zero fork and 47mm stem and the street bike has 20.5tt-13.4cs-normal offset-74.5 and 50 mm stem
i was thinking to mix them in one but my biggest problem is the tires.
1.75 tires are perfect for flatland and of course for spinning but i cant use them for other types of riding.
i was thinking to put 1.95 tires and have only one bike,so my question is:
who rides flatland with 1.95 tires?i will probably mix my bikes in one of the next days to see how it is,just looking for some opinions.thanks

I've been using 1.85 freq g tires on my street bike for a bit over a year.

I was in the same situation that you where in, and it worked great for me.

I'm still looking for the right combination to convert over to just have one bike , but I am getting closer.

I run 1.95 e-comets, and they work just fine on everything... mid you, my bike is sorta hybrid already.  S&M Dirtbike with flat parts... works for me!
More off than on, but still loving it! Flatland until you can't!

i ride 1.75 for more than 10 years and its my favourite size,i never could rode with wider tires but i tried some tricks on my street bike with the 1.95 and they dont feel that bad.they are much slower but i can get use to them maybe,we ll see.

You can ride 1.75 on street but there are several advantages in using a larger tire.
Better grip, softer impacts, easier foot jams ...
The disadvantage was already stated, slower rolling and spinning on your flatland tricks.

It all depends on your flatland and street riding style.  1.85/1.95 is the best compromise.

Larger tires also help to prodect your rims and hubs during grinds. That was a think I did not think about back then. I used a hubguard but my rim was f*cked up from Feebles. So I put on bigger tires.
