I'm loving your burr stem combo! Seems like the clamping mecanism has to be very comfortable! Just to know, how much does it cost?
I really think that the burr stem combo is from an ergonomic and aesthetical point of view, the best bar stem combo you can use.
The problem is that it's very complex to do and takes too much time. In fact it takes so much time that I'm afraid that this one was the last one I made, until I found an easiest way to reach the same result.
It takes almost as time as to make 2 frames !
I only sold this one for 150 Euros, because the customer who ordered it is a very good customer (and friend) and I always minimize the amount of work, especially when it's really the first time I make a product for a customer. And usually the first person who order a new product has a vey good price.
I prefer to not show the wedges/clamping system for the moment, because everything is not 100% finish from a patent point of view, but when you'll see it, you'll understand the simplicity, but also the ingenuity.
I really like how imaginative you are when making products. Keep up the good work and I really hope bussines goes well.
Thanks a lot, it's because I reflected for a long time how things could be improved. But for now, I don't have time enough (because of the orders) to try all the things I have in my mind...
If I had the money to spare to get something done from you malo I would have you buld me a frame and fork in an instant.
Thanks TJ, trust me that if I could lowered my price I would do it, but the trend is not this way, because of the price of the material that doesn't stop to increase...
The only PiR frame Ive ran into personally was super light and the tubes were a little thicker than aluminum foil. Is it possible when ordering to get heavier and thicker tubes? If I were paying for something custom Id want it to be bomb proof.
I understand your point of view. Of course it's possible when you place an order to choose the diameters and thickness of the tubes used. I personnaly try to integrate when the kind of tubes are choosen if the rider is heavy/ligth, smooth/brutal or if he's a parts breaker...Each frame is made specificaly and I won't make the same frame for 2 different riders, if I consider they are different from the previously named parameters.
Very nice work as always Malo. Just curious, what is the average cost of a custom frame? I know each frame varies, but just the average....
The starting price for a simple double diamond raw (without paint) frame is 380 Euros + shipping.
The price for a custom color starts at 40 Euros (for a frame).
Depending the complexity and options, the price increase without really maximum, even if on average it's 450 Euros for a painted frame.
The most expensive frame I made was around 600 Euros (it was a friendly price compared to the time spent) raw and was exactly like my frame, except it didn't had any additionnal machining.
I'm working on a new frame I keep secret for a GF member that will be probably more epensive and lot of people will probably hate it (or love it ?), but what's sure is that it'll be VERY different...
