hi, i dream of one day haveing my own custom frame, the thing is... i dont really know what i want, for example, wich dropouts should i chose? is it just about the looks or do diferent designs have pros and cons? and what about BB height?

is there a thread or website where i can read more about the diferent options?

Hi thePOWERhour,
I would choose details like the dropouts depending on your experience and what friends suggest. For example the size has influence on the peg diameter you can use for different wheel positions. When you do a lot of back wheel tricks, the connection to the seat-/chainstays has a big influence on your foot comfort.
BB height is a difficult topic. Some riders prefer high BBs for clearance during upside down backwheel tricks, some do not like it for pedal hang five for example.
All geometry questions are really depending on the tricks you do, your preferences and your personal taste. The best way to get an idea is to try several different frames before you design your custom frame. But of course this is expensive...
But as long as you do not have developed a specific idea for your frame (in terms of details and geometry) after many years of riding experience, it does not make so much sense to try a custom frame.
On the other hand Malo offers custom frames of very good quality without too many special details for a very reasonable price (not much more than a regular frame). So you can order one and if you realise what you would like to change you can just order another one, depending on your financial situation of course...
You could just try one based on the frame you have with minor changes. But keep in mind that 5 mm or 0.5 ° can make a difference! So change the geometry not too much, otherwise you could be very surprised in the end.
I am very satisfied with my PiR frames.

that's a very good and interesting question.
I'm tryng to produce a document that would help my customers to make the good choices and decisions concerning the numerous available options, but there's really a lot of parameters and it's easier said than done.

That being said, I think the best is to have an idea of the overall shape do you want (specs included) and explain what you are really looking for. Then the frame maker will suggest the best compromise and most of the time the customer is happy...

Thank you Jan for your message !

I like it a lot too.

Furthermore, it's the first time I used a different kind of tubing junction. I can be mistaken but I never saw something similar...

The specs. are the following :

Width : 27"
Rise : 8.5"
150 mm grip tubes
2° up & backsweep

Thanks for the info.
Do you mean the junction from the clamp area to the support tubes? It looks like what London Bikes is doing. I think it is a good solution in this area when it is done properly. And I have no doubt that you do it properly...  :)
