Though I have never been a huge fan, I have to admit that hip-hop/rap is the best to ride to because of the beat is easy to feel and is good for motivation.

Used to listen to a lot of punk but it seems to affect my mood for the worse when riding, and mostly listen to mellower music like amon tobin, dj shadow, A.I (michael sommer's project) and even some movie score stuff now. bits of drum'n'bass and hip hop. anything that helps with 'getting in the zone'.
Isn't that bike a bit small for you?

I was never able to get that to work, so go for it if you can! lol I always rode too fast and things were out of control.

Same here. Punk, Metal, anything like that made my mood all aggro and it didn't work. Worked awesome for street though!

Totally agree though. Something mellow with a good beat to it works the best.

The music I play when riding is SO different to what I'd listen to in other circumstances
that if I heard it when NOT riding my bike I'd laugh at it.

I have somehow ended up riding to genres like dubstep, drum and bass....
The heavier the better.

The very IDEA of listening to those things for aural pleasure offends me;
but I find I simply can't ride as well without it.

AIR.... great band, very relaxing, helps me find my "zone". It's hard to get frustrated when listening to them.

Techno music is good to listen to also
Forget getting a $100 spindle to save weight, get a $40 bottle of steroids and do some push-ups.
