Any Riders in Vancouver, BC

My name is bjoern, 26 years old from germany. I´m about to move to vancouver in november for a couple of month.I´m thinking about bringing my bike in order to ride with some of the local riders...so, my question is: is there a local scene in vancouver? What about the weather? Does it even make sense to bring my bike during the winter? Must be cold in canada...are there any indoor spots?

I would be very to have a session with some flatlanders from canada. Or if you like to grab a beer or two...

I also got an off topic question: does anybody know a good website, were I can find a shared flat? or does anybody know anybody who is searching for a roommate for about two or three month? nothing too expansive
