Quamen bikes: new website and frames.
« on: September 12, 2010, 06:11:16 PM »
The newly updated cyphr frame is sick. check the downtube and gusset. Jim Cavanaugh has been working with them and has test rode the "super cypher" (one of a kind cypher made for him to test out R&D - search forum for cypher pics) this frame is the result of that. Jim is riding the 2011 cyphr (saw it in person yesterday and it looks delicious)

Seems like itīs website-update-time. Quamen has a new website online, too: quamenbikes.com

Just in case you are wondering where the MTB stuff went. There is a dedicated Quamen MTB website now: quamenmtb.com

The new Clad G9 has been added to the parts section. Check out that beauty!

cant decide which frame is stronger though...the double triangle yet lighter weight cyphr or the crisscross heavier clad. maybe te fenix should even be thrown in the mix.

strength is my #1 priority since i seem to break everything. when i had my crisscross bowls2 warrantied i upgraded to the bowls3, which is a traditional diamond shape. it is still holding up after 6 months.

They sent me two sets of spacers, both were the wrong size, they didn't hold the dropouts in place properly which weakened them, then every drop or step down from a halfpacker pretty much destroyed the rear end.

Basically step into a halfpacker, roll forward, drop the back of the bike. The peg hits at the end and it's a lever on the dropouts. It destroys frames if the dropouts are paper thin and the rear end is spaced wide.

fml

When you fall like that, the dropouts bend. Honest to god though, that's about as hard of a slam as my bike takes these days. There's no reason a bike should break from that.

Wasn't the G9 supposed to be a 19+TT / 13+ CS frame?

After over 10 years in the market, quamen is still NOT able to get rid of the RIDICULOUS WIDE BACK END and the STUPID HOLLOW SUPER WEAK DROPOUTS.

One other day i saw my friends BOLWS from quamen and was horrified, the crank arms had dented the frame really bad because he couldnt fit anymore spacers on the crank spindle.
i really wanted to call quamen and yell at them, such stupid design
