That's a fair point...but just as the baseball players with the best swings often have the best batting averages (and therefore do help their teams win), the riders with the best style (or form, or whatever) often are more likely to hit their tricks, in addition to making them look better.

Now you are judging in hypotheticals.

What is the "best" style?

Style/form: Either you got it or don't...but powerful to encompass and be. Those who know their craft inside out, its part and parcel to their expression and being. A simple gesture becomes amped.

Skills/Tech/Form = Style. YOU GOT TO EARN TO BURN IT!

It IS all hypothetical.  Let's say for the sake of argument Shintaro is the smoothest pro right now...someone might come along tomorrow that's twice as smooth.  But obviously there's something to be said for fast riding (a la Marcos de Jesus), and own-the-bike riding (a la Pete Brandt), and who knows how many other styles.  That "style" is often a main thing people take from watching them ride.  It matters.  Sure it's subjective, but in the end you have to trust that the judges know what "looked the best."

I don't trust judges to pick out a clear winner based on consistency alone let alone something as subjective as style. I've seen so many stupid f*cking decisions by judges in the last few years that adding another category they can shelter their idiotic opinions/biases in just seems highly counter productive.

Not all judges are idiots, just saying some I've seen and sat with are.

oh i don't care what you say to tj, im sure he doesn't need me "helping" him.

It just hurts me so bad that I waste few seconds of my life pressing on the "new" button next to a thread just to see something posting bullsh*t about tj\any other person.
