Building Up
« on: October 28, 2005, 04:57:50 AM »
I am deciding to build a Flatland Bike from scratch. I need some help choosing the parts though. I can't decide from a KGB Psychonnecta frame or Sick Child Badda Bling Frame. Also i need help in choosing the little stuff like forks, freecoasters, etc. Is there also a site that would tell me the latest feedback on parts?
 THANKS so far :D

There limited reviews on parts at..
http://www.bmx-test.com

also you can look right here on Global-Flat in the Parts section and look at the toplists to see what products are most popular..

Frame: both are good, you can expect a longer lasting Badda Bling but you can also expect a far lighter Psychonnecta, so...

Freecoaster: flatlanders in general have only one choice: Nankai, but it's twice the price of the Taska...

Tires: try differente sizes or just get used to one...

Crancks: 3pc are heavier but the most popular also...

Handlebar: 2pc are lighter but 4/5/6/... have a more flatlandish look, feel and geometry i think. Buy some steel bar ends, essential for flatland (at least for starters).

Seat: a cheap, made of plastic, simple, maybe cutable (to get more clearance) , is good.

Pedals: Simple, Plastic (so you dont hurt your shins) ones are just fine.

Sprocket: 30T or less, for clearance, weight saving and faster gear ratio.

Pegs: 4X Light, aluminium ones.

When buying Taska, make sure its the later version, with the alloy body with the 11t option...
You could probly but 3 taskas to 1 heavy arse nankai.
