Hi everyone, I know flatland takes a lot of practice and patience, but just a overall question, how long did it take you to learn your first trick, regardless of how hard it was?

Thanks

I think my first trick was fork glide, I learnt to roll it in about 3-4 days. When you get on to one wheel tricks, though - the bar is raised alot.

Foot Jam Tailwhip

I was getting bored of riding street/park and just getting "air" so i went searching around and found BMX trix. The how-to for tailwhip (air) was kinda complicated, so i went searching around for something else and stumbled upon flatland (never seen/heard of it before). I found tailwhip and checked it out, and it didn't seem too complicated and i hoped it would help to learn it in the air. Anyway i checked out the how-to and memorised it then grabbed my street bike and went out front of my house and started trying to recreate what the how-to said, and eventually i pulled it off.

... I was hooked from then on.

Anyway... that's my story on how i started flatland too.

Tailwhips took me 3 months to learn properly, and I still suck at them to this day. However, I can bust out 20+ pinkie squeaks on a whim now adays and BMXTRIX said that they were impossible.

Go figure.

^ Go figure, I have the 180 spin DOWN...got it in like 15 minutes.  but I can't scuff or roll it farther than 1 parking space...sucky.  granted I don't practice everyday, I just think it's wierd...

Learning to do a tailwhip consistently took months, but I only practiced a few days a week for 30 minutes to an hour at a time.
It took about the same time for me to learn to get around to the front wheel and roll a fork glide. I think I learned the tailwhip first, but each of those two tricks were the ones I worked on the most (when I first started riding) and it took months to get them.

forkglides were my first.. IIRC it took a couple days and then a few weeks to gradually ride them out 99.9% of the time.

10 mins for a Barpsin

7 days for a Fork Glide and Fork Wheelie

2 and a half years for a Halfpacker . It makes my progression seem quite fast.
