No "official" title, but I wanted to make it known there is Flatland BMX going on in MA, and there always has been!

This will be an informal jam held in my hometown on East Bridgewater, MA. (About 45 minutes south of Boston).

Prizes will be given out at random throughout the day (BIG thanks to www.maulsbikeshop.com and www.flatlandfuel.com

As well as “Rider’s Choice” for top 3 dudes of the day. Maybe some fun/goofy stuff like “Hang 5 Races” or “Flatland Sumo”..(I’ll keep you guessing on that one…)

This is a nice flat, street hockey rink I ride in all the time, I’m sure you’ll like it.

See you there.

For anybody interested, there's a commuter rail train (Middleborough/Lakeville line) that leaves South Station at 11:15 and gets to Bridgewater at 12:07, and one that leaves Bridgewater at 3:56. I'll plan to be on those, I think.

U should set up a meeting place for people that don't know how to get there. There really isn't an address for it to search on a gps. Maybe start a caravan off the highway and lead it to the rink

OK, the address is

100 Church Street
East Bridgewater, Massachusetts
02333

http://maps.yahoo.com/map?q1=100%20Church%20Street%2002333&mag=5&ard=1#mvt=s&lat=42.032884&lon=-70.95059&mag=5&zoom=18&q1=100%20Church%20Street%2002333

PLEASE BE ADVISED....The town will be asking for a rental fee to use the space so PLEASE bring a $5 donation to the jam...it will really help my ability to continue these events if I can keep it "legit" and cover the town's requests for liablilty and facility usage fees.   Thanks so much, I appreciate it!

The basketball courts are large, but often occupied and too bumpy to ride on..even my 8 year old prefers the rink surface!

Nope, I'd say just pack your own lunch and drinks..and take your trash with ya!

I have picked up literally hundreds of plastic water bottles in the past few days...ugh.

And they don't allow hibachis or anything, so just brown-bag it.

Massachusetts Flat Jam report!

Approx 20 riders gathered for a jam in East Bridgewater MA this past Saturday.

New England has always had a strong flatland presence, but when I realized we hadn't had a "real" event in a few years, I decided to put together this semi-official gathering.

My town has a street hockey rink with a nice surface, really big and flat, but it was in need of a major cleanup..a few hours with a leaf blower and push broom took care of that.

We had riders from ME, CT, RI, and all over MA showing up.

www.Flatlandfuel.com and Rich Slezak generously donated prizes that we raffled throughout the day, and www.maulsbikeshop.com provided some nice parts and gift certificates for the top 3 riders, as voted by attendees...

Luke Malone (MA) took 1st place, and I don't think he ever ventured out of his "circle of chaos" the whole time. He is so used to riding in tight areas, he chose 1 circle on the rink and killed it all day.
Jim Cavanaugh (MA) took 2nd by riding his hardest non-stop. I didn't see him really take a break, and we were out there for about 6 hours.
Jared D (RI) was "time machining" FAST all day, on the pedals, seat post, head tube, death truck style, you name it.

Rich Upjohn won the peg wheelie race right into a wall, and Jim C. also won $5 in a pinky-squeak contest. Basically, once he started, nobody else bothered. Shut-out!

It was a perfect day, with lots of old and new faces coming out. HUGE thanks to all the riders, the MacDonald family, E. Bridgewater Recreation Commission, Pat at flatlandfuel.com and everybody at Maul's Bike Shop. John Gabler and Kieran Chapman for the photos also!    I'm sure more video and pics will be popping up too.

Let's do it again soon!

are these facebook links working? You can see all Kieran's pics on the shutterfly link, though.

AWESOME EVENT!!!
It was soooo cool to see some old faces as well as new ones.

Rick did an amazing job getting everyone together, it's really cool knowing how many riders are in the New England area.
Also big props to the guys who drove down from Maine (2-1/2 hours), really cool guys!

Hopfully see some of you guys at the Cambridge Ma. rink next Saturday around noon.
