If the chrome picture above is a '98, then mine is a '99. Mine has the straight seat styas instead of those goofy, pointless bent ones.

The chrome with the bent stays is a 98, and thats exactly how you tell the difference in years on an EP. These things were tanks..It was really common to find other serious riders with chopped off platforms, coaster brake tabs, and those dinner plate like dropouts. Not exactly sure what year it was, but i felt the 99..and 2001? EP without the platform were the best Hoffman frames ive ridden. With the momentum being the worst haha.

I did all that surgery to my '97 EP and the frame was still 6.5 lbs!

Sure is..the 98's in chrome came with red decals..Crazy i have so many memories/ expieriences with EP's...They seriously were everywhere. Wonder what the % of complete flat bikes bought back in that era was..compared to now...

I had a '96 Stout Boy that was pretty heavy, but I don't think it was any heavier than a Big Daddy or a Shorty or something like that.  I think the 90's Sabbath was the heaviest flatland bike that was mass produced.  I'd heard rumors that the original run of Standard Shortys from around 1992 were close to 9 pounds or something, but since the production run was so small unless you were friends with Degroot most people couldn't get one.
