are you starting flatland? well if yo already have a bike makes sure all of its components are in good running order and get fork pegs and wrap them in griptape. Many of us started of on very cheap bikes.

bike, pegs, maybe a freecoaster(rear hub).
there's a tricks section with how to's. ask all the questions you need to
to be informed.  enjoy!

it's kinda overwhelming at first, don't fret. ;D
The french don't know Rock & Roll.

If you dont have a bike, you need one.  If you do, you need four pegs, and it will escalate from there, trust me.

Other flat-specific parts that I recommend to get first:
zero forks
short stem

They will change the feel of basic tricks such as forkglides, hang-5s, and steam rollers more than anything.  (the headtube angle would be included in this group, if it were a part lol)

If you have the cash, get a complete opsis for ~$300.  If you have more, get something better, or start with the opsis and upgrade.

I personally think forkglides->flatland like bunnyhops->street, so I say learn forkglides first.

Oh and BUY GROUND RULES. Amazing DVD

My advice is start with the basics and dial them.
And build further on that.
Don't go on to harder tricks before you know the basics or you will get stuck eventually

there is a dvd to buy that is informative along with instructional.

it is made by pro rider Matt Welhiem ( my spelling sucks )
and it is called "ground rules"

find this dvd for sale and buy it.   probably on line
or from this store here.

I bought the video and found it to be verry helpful to me when I first started.
