Alex Jumelin wins Game of Skills
« on: April 17, 2010, 10:43:22 PM »
A little surprise in Vienna, Austria. After only a few minutes the decision was made to switch from the new „trick selection“ battle format back to a regular battle format. Simply because it would have taken too much time otherwise. However the contest was fun, a lot people were there and in the end Alex Jumelin won his battle against Sebastian Pospischil and Matthias Dandois.

1st Alex Jumelin
2nd Sebastian Pospischil
3rd Matthias Dandois

Jumelin must've had a good floor to ride on. A lot of the time he looks like he's going to skid out on a few of his links because he turns so sharply and he's been riding brakeless for a while now. Good for him! And awesome for Sebastian!

Alex Jumelin...I was thinking about him. How cool is this post.
Seeing the fotos of Jomopro and the fact few amazing pro riders where present too, him being one of them...that's great he gained top placement in Vienna, after all he has mentored these competitors.

sad that they change the battle format! would be interesting to see a freestyle battle!
... or maybe they are just little kids bikes and we should grow up!        Paul Osika

the skills game format is a great idea, it just needs to be polished a bit. everything took really long but when the riders started riding it became really fun. the mc commented on each trick for non-savvy audience.
my friend suggested a good tip: the trick list (from which the riders were choosing in realtime) should have been published let's say 2 weeks earlier, so every rider could make up their combos beforehand (roughly at least). the decisions took most of the time, also looking up the tricks in the list. if there was someone at the computer and riders would just say what they want, it would be much much faster.
i hope michael sommer wont give up with this idea, i think it's fresh and it should work out next time when those little kinks are worked out.

also the venue was really cool.

with Sommer's new format I thought Jumelin would win for sure; him winning in a normal format makes it all even more just.
Congrats Alex!
