Learning to ride Brakeless...
« on: March 24, 2010, 10:16:07 PM »
Hi guys! I have some questions..

I'm starting to ride flat, but i have no brakes (no money for them :P) and all the "how to" pages explain how to do the tricks with brakes, so I get a little bit lost.

all i want to ask is, with what tricks should i start?

Backwheel:

- Peg wheelies with your left foot on the peg, right foot on the peg, and both feet on the peg.
- Once you've got that down learn to do them in circles and backwards.
- After that work on lardyards/backyards.  They can be weird to get into without breaks but once you're in them you shouldn't be using brakes anyways.
- After that be creative and think of ways to link things together and new positions to try.

Frontwheel:

- Hangfives (front and back)
- Squeekers use these to learn the backwards hang five position. (press your foot on the tire to manage balance instead of using brakes.)
- Fork glides
- Fire hydrants
- Steamrollers (every combination of foot/hand position you can think of.)
- Take these basic positions and start coming up with your own stuff!

dude Bau: i can barely peg wheelie in a straight line and i CAN'T rocket wheelie in a straight line but when i pull it in a circle i like LOCK into it...(rocket manuals are still not quite there)

i think you should get both brakes but if you are not riding with brakes you should start with like a bunney hop fork glide and other begginer scuffing tricks (get ground rules)

im pretty sure this is the incorrect technique so dont take my advice, but when i roll em in a straight line i put WAY more pressure on one side of the grips than the other. like i kinda pull up one one grip and push down on the other to kinda counter only having one foot on the bike and keep it in a straight line. its weird. ya try carving em :P
