5hane- I had the same exact problem. I have the solution for you. You have to learn how to glide with both feets and hands on the bars

Thanks for the tip, I've been practicing that a lot. This video is from a couple days ago.  I haven't really been able to focus on the cliffhanger like I want to yet cuz I want to get a few things down on film for the Battles but hopefully soon I'll tackle it for real.

When your tire blew it made me jump. I hate when that happens. You looking good out there. I know its tough. Its like every other trick though it just takes some time to learn how to balance it. Eventually it will be like Piece O Cake!

ah, i can get to where you are.
i can get my other foot on the peg but letting go is just tough. out of the many times i got to that point, i only had the balls to let go of my bars 3 times. fell forward every time.

Ya letting go is a lot harder than I thought it would be.  I keep falling backwards because the handlebars are psyching me out, they feel like they are going to trip me up, so I'm not committing to it.

I decided the smart thing to do was put in a lot of time on my Hang 10's and that led me to one-handed hang 10's and then I got the idea that maybe I should work on Hang 10 seat-grabs, another trick I've really wanted to learn.  I put a lot of time into that instead.  So even though I didn't work much on Cliffhangers they did inspire me to work on something else I've been wanting to learn.

your hang 5s are supa legit!! you're a quick learner, man.

i was wondering this myself, would messiah's be a good stepping stone to cliffhangers? or are the two so different that neither one is really useful for learning the other?

Thanks man  And that's a good idea about messiah's, I hadn't thought about that.  The trouble I have with cliffhangers is as soon as I let go of the bars it's immediate fail. That's why I worked a lot on those one hand hang 10's, I thought they could get me used to letting go but I can't say they've really helped because the few times I messed with cliffhangers recently it wasn't happening.

in my opinion, messiahs are gonna be a hell of a lot harder to learn than cliffhangers

Cliffhanger not so hard but scary as hell to learn how to let go

Messiah not a scary position to fall from but more difficult to learn to control

That's just my take from learning both. I learned cliff first.

yeah messiahs look tricky to balance because you have to like push against the bars with your pelvis and knees and use your arms, where as cliffhangers you're like more directly on top of the bike...NEVER would have thought that cliffies are easier to learn though.

5hane, if your working on hang5 to whiplash i'm sure the motion of lifting your leg up over the seat can be applied to cliffers. i think also (and keep in mind i'm still working just to dial hang5s, never even tried a cliff-o) working really hard on having both feet evenly distributed is going to be a key factor. that could be why you're "instant failing," from the looks of your video, one of the bails was like 1 peg just smashed into the ground and the other rocketed into the sky.

but you probably figured that out yourself

Looks good, any tips on any semi tricks to help preform the whole thing? :D

Also, can someone please sticky this as it tends to get lost down the page :<

I will see if I can't get someone...maybe John to do a How To this weekend. I am pretty much in the dark about doing it with out brakes. Its not even close to the same with brakes. Even though John thinks its pretty easy! He makes it look like a piece of cake.
