How to improve a slippery floor with white powder
« on: December 28, 2009, 01:36:38 PM »
Matthias put a great article online on how to add some grip to your slippery spot. To cut a long story short: you just have to put some magnesium on it. What works for climbers can work for flatlanders as well.
So kids, it´s time to get some magnesium on that lovely new tiled floor in your parents living room!

Update: there are health concerns about that idea. Please check the forum or get a gasmask.

Please note that in most of cases this is not only magnesium... What makes the surface grip more is the "rosin or colophony"

Please be very careful when using that kind of chemicals becouse they are dangerous for your health.

lol.
bad idea.expensive and bad for your health.
THIS IS THE WHITE POWDER MIRACLE:

mix 300 grammars or half kilo in 5-6 litres of water and then put it everywhere in the floor.when it gets dry its the stickiest thing you can find.
it should stick for a week or so.
i have done it in hot marble with 35 degrees and it grips as cement.

matthias should put his free time into designing a bike that doesnt break , not on how to make a floor less slippery. but then again if matthias is doing it, its cool to do so im gonna do it today!

I see in the future A Bad Thing insulation and maybe even lead paint...the lead to lower risks of radiation exposure in a post nuclear holocaust situation.

I put 18 liters cola in our FunSport Hall and it just work half a day!
There is also a climbing wall and every time the climbers used the wall magnesium powder is lying around and it makes the floor more slippery! Maybee it works when the floor is cleaned befor witch is not the case in our dirty Hall.
I will try magnesium in water and tell you the results...
Could be a good Idea if somebody do the way to the next pharmacy or sports doctor and ask there for the risks of magnesium use before posting on and on "I heard this and I heard that"...
Just facts realy help!
But I think on most locations the owners don't like the idea off putting white powder on the floor so maybee ask first and act later!

... or maybe they are just little kids bikes and we should grow up!        Paul Osika
