History of Quamen?
« on: November 30, 2009, 06:12:56 PM »
About ten years ago, Quamen seemed to come out of nowhere...they sponsored the riders who got the most exposure at the time (Kuoppa, Penonzek, Cerra), and tons of riders bought their frames.  Flatland Fuel wasn't around yet, but the first Quamen frame was available at Dan's.  Quamen frames are still great now, but it seems like a different company now.  What changed over the years?   What was "Dig-It" (didn't that used to be the name of the company and "Quamen" the name of the frame?)  Were the frames always American made like they are now?  What about Camacura and other names associated with it, were they the same people?  I am interested in knowing more about the company, just because flatland-specific companies come and go, and it's admirable that the brand has been going for at least ten years now, with the same logo and everything (although I'm interested to know whether ownership has changed over the years)

This has been discussed already. At least 800,000,000,000,000 times, I guess.
Once upon a time... there was a guy named Richard Zabzdyr (R.I.P.)...

I just started getting into flatland stuff about 3 days ago and suck so far, I blame my sh*tty bike and lack of practice.

I am not asking about the name, I am just curious about the company and how it's changed over the years.

Zenta owns the company and always has
as bmx flatland has not taken off as much as he had hoped
he has ventured into other things like mountian bikes stuff
and road bikes.

i known Zenta for a long long time and quamen still makes
one of the best bikes out there for flatland

cam-acura is the parts department and dig-it is it's distributor
for getting all quamen and cam-acura parts out to the world.

so to straighten this out and i have ridden quamen stuff and still
so in a quamen cyphr frame, lolli pops etc and so do many here
in nor-cal.............

I've loved Quamen since I started, but I wasn't riding in the early days.  I don't know much about who the good riders were back then that were shredding on the new Quamen stuff.
Who were some of the first riders, outside of Quamen, to get flow and represent?

He died in a car crash while returning from York Jam.

.....And what's even more scary , is that Jesse stayed in York, but was going to go home also.

Quamen was always like magic to me, a big mistery.
They had the BEST parts for flatland, still do.
I remember I once got this little cardboard sheet
with one of my orders, and I drooled over all the
parts they showed; they were "CamaCura," I coudn't
believe how awesome they were, and I'd never have
seen them if I didn't get the cardboard from my order,
which was a long time ago, maybe flatlandfuel.
But I used to dream about Quamen parts on my bike.

I think I could better explain the history if I just got a colonoscopy and showed you the pictures.
