Militant FF is what I started on (slash AM starting on :P). It's a solid bike for beginners, everyone I've ridden with claims its way better than their starter. It has it's low points that I've been annoyed with, but basically after some new cranks I couldn't be prouder. As long as you don't break anything (and it's NOT a weak bike, i'm just a big rider) you won't need to put much extra money into it once you decide it's not enough for you anymore.

I think the opsis is a better bike. Go for that one since it already has 3 pc cranks and decent rims. It is 5 lbs heavier bit that means u won't have to worry about it breaking on u. When ur ready u can upgrade the forks, bars, and pegs to shave weight and have a strong dialed rig.

I'm selling my bike on ebay for 350 euros and it's better than a militant because it has a geisha freecoaster, a new champagne fork ...

If you need more information tell me (i'm from france).

i agree, the militant ff is a good deal.  non-integrated headset and 1-pc cranks might not be so hot, but my first frame was non-integrated with 1-pc cranks as well and wasn't near as nice as the militant.    ......on second thought, it WAS a 1990-ish GT vertigo, though........i miss that frame.......anyways, go with the militant.
