O-Peg plastic end caps
« on: October 01, 2009, 10:06:42 PM »
Malte from Germany had the great idea to make plastic end caps for pegs:

"I was sick of cutting my shoes and hands while riding. I also thought that the idea of steel end caps for pegs was the right way but too heavy. Respect for A Bad Thing to be the first that redesigned the old idea of an screw on end cap for a newschool Flatland peg. A closed peg is good for pivotal trix, will minimize the danger of injuries and you can ride your pegs till they break appart.
Through a friend I found suitable material. First I built a peg and designed an end cap for this peg. So the Idea grew that I could build end caps for any peg. So far I build end caps for Uma and Alchemy pegs.
My pegs come in 40 and 35mm diameter. The end caps are available round or flat. They get fixed by a headless screw."

Do you have to drill a hole in the peg yourself to use the setscrew?

Haro Ground Round, and Tioga Roll-ons.

Remember, grammar is the difference between "I helped my uncle Jack off a horse", and "I helped my uncle jack off a horse".

I just started getting into flatland stuff about 3 days ago and suck so far, I blame my sh*tty bike and lack of practice.

It would be cool if someone did a rounded end with a recessed screw like they do on bar ends that would fit a variety of pegs; same overall principle, but tweaked to lock a bit harder.

I had a pair...and they stripped out in ONE DAY.  Damn you Pete Augustin!  Ha, ha...I was just thinking of the add for these with him in it.

That was the first thing I remembered as well. You had to be so darn careful with those threaded alloy pegs.
It truly is a romance of many dimensions, isn't it?

It's possible, but the problem is you'd need to get an adaptor for pegs that would fit say 1" to 1.5" since all pegs (should), are different. Some have lips on the edges of the pegs that were machined for the purpose of saving weight, Either that or you get some "Mould it yourself" kind of plug and cook it in the oven and voila, expanded peg-plug application!

I've done it with my pegs..which are still available and do the exact same thing as those pegs but actually have an opening at the end so you can at least take your wheel off without taking off the caps!

buy them! You know you want to.
