Suntour Freecoaster Help?
« on: September 25, 2009, 03:05:27 AM »
I have been working on a Suntour coaster brake hub for days. I have the bearings in correct. I have an unbrake in it as well.

The hub works fine. It also coasts forward and reverse smoothly. However, when I try to move the cog in reverse (backpedal) it is very hard. It almost acts as if it is still a coaster brake. When the hub is loose it still does this. Yes, the brake pads have been removed too.

Anyone know what i've done wrong?

 Thank you, Alan

Remove the un-brake. If it feels fine without the un-brake the un-brake is removing too much slack.

If you are for real, you probably spend enough time on your bike that there's no time left for talking sh*t on message boards.

Of course, if all you do is talk sh*t on message boards, you're probably not as good or as cool as you think you are.

Remember, grammar is the difference between "I helped my uncle Jack off a horse", and "I helped my uncle jack off a horse".

I just started getting into flatland stuff about 3 days ago and suck so far, I blame my sh*tty bike and lack of practice.

Thank you for the reply, and the link.

I think the problem may be the clutch spring. The spring seems very tight in the clutch cone. Is it supposed to be tight? Or should the spring turn easily inside the cone?

I had this problem on a set of skyway mags I was converting to freecoaster.

and I believe it to be the spring also.
there is a mix of how tight it needs to be,
but I believe yours and mine are exessively tight.

I ended up lubing my hub with lucas oil treatment stuff
that is "cling" to it and my hub is now running alot nicer
but oozes some now and needs wiping out every fiew hours of riding.
