Help me build a new bike!
« on: August 23, 2009, 12:28:57 PM »
I've been riding for ten years now and I ditched my brakes four years ago. But I haven't been riding since the death of my mom three months ago.
I'm not happy with my current setup. I'm 5'7" / 160lbs. I like zero offset forks and frames with a bent down tube. And I'm looking for parts that can handle some serious flatland riding without being replaced constantly. Money is not an issue.

Please feel free to make suggestions.

Thanks!

-Andy

When money is no object there's nothing nobody can really tell you that you couldn't come up with yourself.

Buy the most expensive and known for reliability parts and you are good to go.

bar ends: Quamen steel
grips: ...
bars: Caramel3 / Odysseys Flatware's / Quamen Bar-B-Q / SickChild's
stem: The Hook / Flatware / S&M (when released)
headset: FSA Impact
frame: Spear (if you are short) / Strowler (of you are tall)
forks: Vajda
seat: ...
post: ...
clamp: ...
pedals: ...
cranks: 2.5 piece design, single bolt, alloy/ti spindle
bb: ...
sprocket: Imperial / Tree
chain: Hollow Half Link
pegs: ...
tires: G's
rims: 7KA
front hub: GSport
freecoaster hub: Geisha Lite / Nankai
spokes: ...

I just wish "money was no subject to me" haha

PS: sorry for your loss, it's a good thing you're available to pratice something that moves your mind away from such pain. Cheers [[]]

Stick with mostly Odyssey parts and the frame, cranks and bars of your choice. My Federal FC has been every bit as reliable as a Nankai and it's been almost 2 years now on it.

Don't get the lightest frame, that does not automatically make it the best out there like people seem to act like around here.

The quamen steel barends last forever but for some reason i have had three sets of bars and they never seemed to stayed on any of them. Theres only one little bolt that holds them on and it just doesnt seem to be enough. idk  :P  but i would definately recommend quamen oddyssey and sick child anything and get pivotal cause its cool  you also might wanna wait for that new S&M stem and gcoaster that should be comin out pretty soon too (lets hope)

May I highlight: strowler, caramel 3 (quamen Q if u like them a tiny bit smaller), hook stem, and the odyssey flatland fork is great, also geisha lite.
