87 gt performer / parris 1 / dyno pac man drops / khe militant lt.

street beat next to my Jr. performer 16"

now for some bikes that I have owned,  and taken apart and used parts
to make my current builds.

this is the militant lt.
was a crazy riding frame with the 75.3 head tube angle
and the frame being soo small.

I was inches away from learning smith decades on this bike,
but I diddnt realley like the way it rode for me so much so I took it apart
and built something else.

this was my favorite way to setup my metro.
loved this setup.  still have 90% of the parts,  and need to get it back together again
cause it was a fun bike to ride.    not super stoked on 74 flat head tube angle
would love this frame with 74.5.  maby I can find some forks with short legs or something.

suelo v1
was alexes bike from miami. - seat was setup way too high,  and 2.1 size tires are poo poo.
did not enjoy this setup as much as my other 2 simples

here is my parris 1

this setup totaly taught me alot of tricks.  it was stupid light weight,  and I diddnt at the time realize how flexible the frame was,   made it hard to realley dial in on spinning rear tire tricks as the back end would flex side to side - wich basicly was steering the rear tire like how forks steer the front tire.   crazy.
but I still learned a ton on this setup,   and loved it.

fly simple - amazing frame.  setup perfect.   loved this setup
and also did well with it,   but this bike was kinda early on.
I say that like Ive been riding for years now,   but haha  you know.
any how - that setup felt amazing.

same sickchild metro frame as above,  this was its first setup.  also a dope gathering of equipment here.

and same parris 1 as above with its first grouping of parts.

this was a kgb conectasomething.

this frame was the worst for me.  one of my absolute worst riding bikes ive ever setup.
hated it.   not even shure why.   it just rode like crap for me.

my st martin down town.   man I miss you.

in pic is my crappy car and a fly simple that was also a sweet riding setup

I kick my self in the ass for selling this st martin down town frame.
it was realley sweet.   taught me rolling whiplashes.  me being a dummy sold it off super cheap.

here is johnu773's old suelo simple v1

and gods green grass old simple v1

both of those simple v1's were given to my friends to ride flatland.
and they still use them to this day.
 ;D

ahhh - my first good flatland bikes.

red one = turd muffin mid school eastern seaker frame rode horrible.  sucked the worst of all my bikes -   there is a st martin darwin in there I got off of paved paradise.
a 03 wtp pony in there - wich was a super good frame.  I miss that one too.
and my glorious blue aries ashura.

when I got this bike,  it was more preacious to me than gold.
it had diamonds on it,  and when I saw it,   it was just pure amazingness to my eyes.
in reality tho - it was a tank.  and weighed in 39 pounds. and was such a beast to ride.
but it was realley a great learning tool for me

WOW...I didn't even realize you had this many.  Very cool, thanks for sharing with us.  I like the LAF and Streetbeat the best.   Streetbeat was my favorite BITD, and the LAF or LTF looks like something I would want to ride now.  Cool.

Have you riden the Performer yet?  It seems like I remember them being horrible for flatland.  They felt like a chopper to me.  I think the head tube angle was like 73?  Way too mellow.  That and a combination of horrible chopper forks.  It would probably be much better with zero offset forks though.

In your opinion...which one rides the best for you?

hey tod,
here was the gt when I set it up.

I picked thru alot of gt performers,  because there were alot of them with 73 head tube
but I believe mine is 74 or steeper.   my year is 87.
it has the mount for underside brakes,  but not 990 style
just regular bolt on style side pull or pitbull style calapers.
seems like 87 was the not so relaxed head tube angle.
by the way,   my 1987 gt performer frame ran 18/9 gear ratio no problem
and never even got any chain slap on the stays.

 :P
I also setup my skyway and performer with a crazy headset using tioga 1" cups
and regular 1 1/8" forks with a loose ball method

right now this is my daily riding bike.

im 100% comftorble on it.
any trick I can do on a "flatland specific bike"  I can also do just as good on it
its shaped like a normal bmx bike
and I can pedal around with out hitting my knees on the stem or bars
and my feet dont bump the rear pegs or the front tire either.
im 5.11" or 6" when I stand straight up wich is never due to my terrible posture
and im riding a bike with 20.85 top tube - and 35mm reach stem
and have no problems with it,
im wondering why alot of people perfer frames that are 18.2 and what not on the tt.
I feel pretty cramped on a small tt bike
and when using a lay back seat post to help that,
I always bust my shins in the back of the seat doing rear tire scuffing.

so yeah,    i do have days when I get a wild hair to ride a diffrent bike
or remember a certan trick I wanted to try so ill bust out a diffrent bike for that.
im pretty crazy.
but I believe every bike I setup - it has a certan fiew tricks that it is ideal for more so than a diffrent setup.
like say.....   my 98 S&M sabbath setup with 6 pegs.
that thing is a tank and a half.   even with pegs instead of cranks its got to be near 34lb.
but - that bad boy does amazing at mc circle.
I can not mc circle any other bike I have as good as that sabbath.
so on a day I feel like busting out my mc circle skills...  you better believe im on the sabbath.
vs a day when I want to realley work hard on my cliffhangers
I take out the skyway because it has a nice platform on the rear seat stays
that is a good comfy spot for my ass to rest on when in cliffhanger position
so my front junk isnt mashing up in the seat like it feels like when im trying to do cliffhanger on my parris 2 bike wich id rather avoid if at all possible.
 :P

trick im working on learning now is time machine.
and im doing it on my hybrid S&M frame.
its large wheelbase is helping me control the bike as every movment I make with it
in the ride in position is less sensitive due to a larger layout.

or maby im just a mental case.
either way im a pretty happy dude to have what I do
and to be able to mess with it when I want to in my free time from work / house / car dutys.

btw - did you guys know that I install hurricane shutters and impact glass windows for a living ?   im 28 - and its my job to setup some pretty sketchy scaffolding on highrise buildings and go out the window of the 20th whatever floor and use man tools out there - big hammer drills + impact drivers
its pretty crazy.   maby ill remember to take my camera to work one day.

It seems like the downtown is their most popular frame. I dont see why they dont do a remake of it?

I've said sh*t to you before, but to know that you've given many of these bikes away makes you really admirable in my book. That's a good thing period.
