Another option would be to do it from a rope-a-roni like this:

That's how I ride into a bw upsidedown peg wheelie.

I use my balance foot to slow the bike down by sliding it on the wheel, then pulling the bike back with my right hand on the peg, while the left hand grabs the right grip as it comes through, while my foot comes off the tyre and aims for the front right peg once the tyre hits the ground.   You can see me do this here...
Colony BMX
(I'm the second guy in the clip, with the yellow and black bike)  It's a bit quick, but you can slow it down, i think.

(At 12:00 - 12:12 you can see how I get into mine, and out of them, too.)

I get into mine from a switch handed lardyard and soon hope to land it by going back into a lard yard.

If you have a brake do like a half undertaker and step on the tire, pull down on it with your foot as you get your hands on the pegs and drop into the upside down wheelie..Its hard to explain but easy to do , its probably easy to do brakeless too..As long as you get your foot on the tire its easy from there

Watch this KHE video... @ 2:20 Geraldo does the layup twice! It's an undertaker but it will get you in the position you want! Really good view for you to study, in this vid...
