Svevo - Machoman
« on: May 27, 2009, 07:33:21 PM »
Here is the latest player on the flatland market: Svevo Bikes. For the perfect reading experience turn
this song Small | Large
on first. Svevo Bikes is a german company that produces handmade bmx bikes. Together with Flo Sailer (Kunstform) they developed a flatland frame called Machoman. The idea was to design a Kuwahara 1980 style frame with nice thin tubes. Two versions will be available; a fillet brazed premium version and a welded version. All frames will get a ceramic paint instead of powder. Furthermore the premium version will be available in custom colors. Sounds pretty interesting! Now the only thing you have to do is to check the kunstform shop in late autumn 2009.

What the hell is with the 12.2 back end? That's so god damn pointless. Make it longer for christs sake.

Exactly. You CAN'T ride back wheel on that bike. It's going to be too twitchy and you'll loop out on everything. There just wouldn't be enough control possible with a rear end that short. Plus heels hitting pegs every pedal is just annoying as hell.

I think is funny u guys say short rears are no good then say short cranks are a gimmick. ever try both at the same time?

No, because that would be somewhat dumb.

Shorter wheelbase, fillet brazing and insulating ceramic paint.

Svevo aims at the upper niche: haute couture meets flatland.

Kinda unnecessary, but nice. Hopefully someone will buy them.

Branding could use some work, but I like it anyway:

Any info about the BB height? Seems a bit too high, maybe it isn't.

And yeah, the back is too short. It makes the frontwheel tricks unstable. Should be minimum 12.8-12.9 on EVERY frame

Great; another Ferrari level frame. That will help flatland grow. Sorry kids, all sold out of Honda Civics. Better start saving now.

It seems like most flat frames are coming with these tiny cs.  I like the look of the frame and the 19.2 tt, but <13 cs is way to short.  The only advantage I can see with these short cs is straddle tricks like death trucks.  I just don't like the way it feels.

This is a first prototype. The final version is going to be finished for the worlds. We will change some things till then!
The soldered version is going to be handmade in germany. that is of course more expensive then but also really strong and just for people who love have a soldered strong frame.
The "normal" welded version will be cheaper of course.
Price for soldered will be 595 Euros
for welded about 379 Euros

On ther soldered version you can choose your angles and sizes by yourself too...so no worry about short rear:)

If you look at the prices of most frames in Europe, thats actually not that bad.

All you Yanks that have been complaining need to check your head. Not everyone in the world makes products with your currency in mind. Who cares if the price of the frame is "825 USD"? In reality, no one in the States would ever buy one anyways.
