New Bike Maintenance ...
« on: May 21, 2009, 04:37:12 AM »
Hey guys,

About to order my OG Balance in the next week or so, anyway, I was wondering what tips you guys could give me on what'll need messing with as soon as I get it. Like, if anything'll need grease or anything like that before I start riding.

Thanks

o yeah !
alot of people are afraid to take stuff apart and see its internal workings.
im not -
but I know that bike your getting wasnt built by me or you
so id be intrested to take it apart at the begining to make shure things are
properly lubed up in places that spin - and ajusted correctly in other areas.

headset.  -  it needs to have a small amount of greese in it.  and when tightned
it needs to have no "play or wiggle in it"  and also allow the bars to spin freely.
there is a fine line between being too loose and to tight.

cranks - need to have greese in the spindle and on bearings,   arms need to be tightned properly so the cranks spin freely,  but have no side to side play in them going thru the bottom bracket.

front and rear hubs -  if you feel like going on a mission - do it.
if your scared - dont.
but if you dont go thru the hubs and greese up things good - they might not last
for as long as they would if you started riding them with proper lube in them.

and your chain should be pretty tight when you put it together.
I run mine ultra tight,  but thats just me.   I find it helps my cranks to stay
where I put them when doing spinning tricks.   if your chain is loose
the cranks may wander around when your spinning around crazy.
