Look for a fixed(gear) Hub. Thats pretty cool but I must warn you if you put a fixed hub on your bike as loong as the back wheel is mving your cranks will move which could make many tricks a little difficult.

yep,
and it also makes bike maintnence more hazordus to your health.

tj perry got his finger run around the cog / chain on a fixie when the bike moved.
or something to that effect.

correct me if I am wrong - but I believe there is a cog that will thread on to a regular freewheel hub,  and possibly lock on some how ?  yes / no ?

You will need a fixed gear specific hub that has a threaded section for a fixed cog (12-22 tooth) and also a smaller reverse thread section for a lockring (to hold the fixed gear cog in place).  You will most likely want an easier gear ratio than "normal" and a slightly longer chain and some patience to learn the new techniques.

its also mega annoying trying to jump back from pegs on to the pedals when your rolling,  as the cranks never stop moving around - its a guessing game when trying to achieve this.
alot of slipped pedals on my poor shins.

yes - I built a 10 speed fixie trash bike with pegs
yes I did flatland with it.
it sucked
I gave it away ( after I took the pegs off of course ! )
aint giving away no free pegs here  :P

o yeah,
I forgot to say that a normal hub that takes a standard 16 tooth freewheel
can also thread on a fixie cog and a lock ring.
the smalles size you can use is 12 tooth.
pair that with a 24 to 26 tooth front sprocket and you should be good to go wheely around
and backwards also.

to take off a freewheel from a hub is pretty hard to do.

I have to usualy destroy the freewheel to get it off.
crush it in a big bench vise,  so it wont spin anymore,  and spin the rim off of it.
its a mega pain in the arse.

check your local bike shop for a crappy cheap wheel to try out a fixie cog on.
then if you realley like it,  buy a good one.

Odyssey G-Coaster with "coastable direct drive configuration"... when the day finally comes around that Odyssey is able to release this thing, it really does seem that it will make a huge impact on both the flatland and fixed gear groups. Lord knows when it's going to happen though... until then, imagine the possibilities of this thing!  ;D

So it can switch from being a freecoster in the regular way to being one in the reverse direction.wow

fixies are fun...

but a PITA to learn to ride in the beginning.

I was watching some street fixie riders... doing jumps, 180s and all kinds of crazy sh*t.

I got on my knees for this one guy....

he stalled on a ledge with his rear wheel and 180 bar spinned off, Into a 1 handed wheelie.

I sat there with the street riders and said.... WTF?
