Steel/ti grip rings?
« on: May 07, 2009, 10:25:51 PM »
Anyone know where I can buy a decent pair of steel/ti grip rings, preferably with a sensible sized grub screw, e.g. 3mm + allen key?

I only bail hitchikers occasionally, but often enough to wear through aluminium ones too fast. Plus the tiny grub screws on rings such as the Eastern ones just can't hold up to the loads from a bail. Because my bars have a lot of sweep, i'm starting to wear them down, which is going to weaken them a lot.

The FF hitchiker rings are too big, though I might have to resort to them if there is nothing else.

agreed,  bar ends are verry limited for us flatlanders.

the verry second I find a machine lathe I can afford
I will be making my own.

I know exactly what I want in a bar end,
and so far - nothing comes half way close.
Old dudes can still rip

I think I remember people talking about this thing you can get at a hardware store, like a pipe collar,or something..
But that might be large like the flatlandfuel ones..Do they still make camacuras? they were great..
are you talking about bar ends, cuz i just put small bearings on the end of my bars cuz i was having this exact same problem..

Those shaft collars look intersting, I'll look into them.

It's grip rings I'm after i.e. rings that go on the inside of the grip where the brake lever would be, rather than bar ends.  I recently went brakeless, hence needing protection where my brake lever provided it before.  This wouldn't be a problem if I had zero sweep bars, but they hurt my wrists too much.

Hi: I`m from Peru. In my country is difficult ride in a good floor, me and my friends ride in tarmac floors, that`s very rough. Therefore i work my own plastic stuffs such as: bar ends, peg caps, bottom bracket, fork and crank spacers. And now i`m replacing plastic bearings instead of ball bearings. All those things makes lighter to my bike. Also i work those thing for my friends for a cheap price. Recently I`ve sent a couple things to Australia for a friend named Karl H.

It would be dope to get camacuras and remove the lip so they can slide down..

See the odysey bar ends in steel on flatland fuel,
grind or drill the end off so there open.. i made grip stops out of gt bar caps this way once, i cut the end off
its nice cuz there low profile
