Grip Slip!!!!!!!!
« on: March 21, 2009, 08:53:23 PM »
I just put some new grips on my bike(with the ol soapy water) almost a week ago. My right grip ironically (right handed) has gripped to the bar on either side but not on the center. Anyone got any suggestions to fix this .

remove them and use alcohol instead of soap. no residue to get between the bar and grip.
for what it's worth, I've used every method under the sun to keep grips from breaking loose; but because of my ape arms, lockon grips are the only thing that works.

Hairspray fellas.  This has been the trick for years.  SOak em for like 3 seconds, slip them on quick.  they will dry fast and lock tight.

Soapy water is the problem.I`ve always used rubbing alcohol :

I have never used hair spray, but it`s good too

Now, get on your bike and ride!

We've had this topic countless times, but in truth, most spray cans will work because they all contain solvent of one type or other that attacks the rubber just enought to make it sticky and grip like glue.

take 5 or 6 zip ties(longer than the grips), put em in the grip and position them around the bars. make sure the "box" part is on the end where your bar end goes. slide the grip in place then pull the zip ties out. no glue no hairspray no mess.

Best meathod - 4 or so zip ties in the grip, use them as sliders - just slide the grip on, pull them out and booyah - instant set grips.
