KHE Titan Frame prototype 980g/2.16lbs
« on: January 16, 2009, 05:19:23 PM »
KHE has something very interesting for all the lightweight maniacs: A proto TI-frame with a flatland geometry ( TT: 18.8“, CS: 12.9“, HT: 74° ).

"The geometry was kept as simple as possible to provide the maximum strength and a minimum of weight. The frame weighs only 980g/2.16lbs. We´ll build up a bike with all the lightweight parts we´ll find in our warehouse to see how far we can push the limits. How light can a serious bike become? You can check out the bike on the next Eurobike for sure."

It's a Paris 1 in Ti! Since the Paris 1(and not 2 or 3) is the best frame ever i would definitely go for the Ti (if this would be a bit shorter)!

I knew this was coming sooner or later.

What's the consensus on the strength/durability of titanium frames compared to chromoly or aluminum?  Any guesses on how much one of these would cost?

that's right, dave. and it's called an opinion. my guess is it's about $1200 u.s.d.
i also say "ridiculous".

every ti part iv had iv snapped, and with chromoly frames currently weighing 3.5 pounds is there really a need for a ti frame? iv heard titanium is in short supplyand thats why its so expensive

The only thing ti I want on my bike is hardware and only for Chromo parts. Ti kills alloy threads. Didn't ares or someone already try the ti thing. I thought Terry had one awhile back. If it was that good you would think he would still be riding it. As well there is a street frame already available in ti. I think it costs about a "G".

So instead of paying their riders an extra 100 bucks or so this month, they decided to make a titanium frame.

Nice.

wow thats so cool.

watch how many people will feel like they have to say something negative, despite not having to buy one.
