what's up guys,
i just came home from school and was thinking about what i heard from my friend. he wants to buy 10mm front hub, but i'm not sure if it is a good idea. i would be afraid of riding with that think. i know 10mm is lighter, but isn't the 10mm more breakable than 14mm? i hope you understand what i mean - my english isn't that good - sorry.

Hi,

I guess he rides flatland, too ?

I never rode a 14 mm front hub ... and my 10mm front hubs never caused any problems ... so as far as I'm concerned it's absolutle okay

Its obviously weaker, 4mm less in diameter is relevant. However, I dont think u should worry about that difference, despite being thinner, it's lighter, and I've never heard of any problems with either the setups.

Anyway, if your buddy was riding 14mm and he wants to change to a 10mm, won't he have compatibility issues? Concerning dropout slot size I mean. Can we use 10mm axle's in 14mm dropouts? I dont think so, he may have to consider purchasing those axle converters also.

I am abit offtopic here but, be sure to check this hub out.

http://www.gsportbmx.co.uk/products/hubs/hubs_home.html

It is made by Gsport and the hub axel is simply composed by two bolts. The advantage of this is that if your axel does break, all you need is to buy a new bolt - no axel needed.

With this hub, you can go 10mm without any worries  Cheesy  (even though i don't think 10mm axels actually break).
