Pete B. and i was talking about how long he was going to ride competition
wise last night as i am staying at his house at the moment as i was on the
Central Coast staying with another pro flatlander but im in Fresno now baking
my ass off in the Central Valley heat!

anyways, there is no limit as long as you are able to ride and progress to an
point you still enjoy riding and can ride and im 47 years old and still ride tho
i am limited to riding because of health issues..i still ride!

i think Dion you need to shut the fook up and just go ride dude and you
know i speak straight out and wont hold my words back for anyone and
as long as you enjoy riding and can progress then go ride and dont worry
about how much longer yopu are going to ride for.

Pete is FIT he'll be riding until he absolutely can't. And seeing a guy 3 years older than me riding like a 14 year old busting out combos like these 20 year olds do...well it was quite an inspiration to be honest.

Mutt,

Let me clarify. I'm not complaining... this is a honest to goodness question and I actually look forward to seeing older riders in the future like surfing has. I'm also curious to see if others think there will be more and more 50 year olds riding BMX bikes in the future. I think it's cool that you're still so involved in the sport and was jazzed to re-connect with you. I'm not worried about how much longer I'm going to ride for - interesting that you read into my thread that way.

BTW, that was a nice choice of words toward:

1) A guy who rides daily (me), and pretty much DOES STFU and rides (just got back from a 3 hour solo session)

2) The same guy who thought of YOU first when I got back into it (that's how much I respect your passion for the sport) - knowing you're the go-to guy to re-connect with old friends.

3) The same guy who looks forward to riding with you everytime and drive my ass 50 miles + to do so. Not because of your riding skills, but because I like you as a friend.

You're always complaining about people talking sh*t... check your own words, buddy. I'm your  friend, and friends don't tell friends to STFU unless there's blows to be thrown or unless they want to make enemies.

I like you... please don't create a situation that would lend me toward not liking you.

I'll see you in Manteca.

*sorry for the thread jack, guys. Forum drama is for kids - so that will be the last of that kind of stuff coming from me.

Hey, as far as I know there are no 50 year old riders. So why is it a bad question to ask? No one really knows the answer. Can someone ride into their 50's? Yes. Is it likely? That is the question. No one knows how difficult flatland will be for a middle age guy. I supect it will be back and knee problems that plaque us. I remember it was a big deal that Brian Scura was in his thirty years ago. Now we have guys including myself who are creeping on 40. Who knows.

My two cents.  I'm 35 and ride, and my Dad also is know to do a little stuff too like infinity rolls, peg hops, and such, and he is 67.  He does it just because he likes it, and isn't that the point?  What level you ride at doesn't matter as long as you have fun.

If riding you stop, die you will.  It's not how hard the tricks are, it's how you make them look that counts.

Luv your profile sticker Yeti.

That should be slapped on a Tee. Simple as hell, even a embroidery would be cool. Its so annoying explaining to mutherf*ckers what is flatland.

That's cool.   I totally foresee myself riding BMX and Motorcycles for the rest of my life or until my body says "NO!". I'm sure everybody on here has the same sentiment! :)

36 and will continue to ride no matter what.  Personally I need to get in better shape (lose weight) and making the effort to work out to lose weight and in essence improve my body for riding.  That is the hard thing for me.  Going out and riding is easy.  Going to bang out pushups, pull ups and crunches is hard.  I ride my Street bike for my day job so my cardio is getting better all the time.  I don't have any nagging injuries so I am ok there.  To me the biggest obstacle is time.  I need more time to do everything I want to do.
