Non-lethal footjams
« on: June 02, 2008, 05:15:48 PM »
So I tried my hand at footjam endos yesterday, was going along just fine, fairly slow pace, put my foot on top of the wheel, under the fork.

CRUNCH!

Big toenail got cleaved in two!

Now my shoes werent too thin, wearing ETNIES skateshoes.

Anything i'm doing wrong?

there's the problem. ON the tire, UNDER the fork. kind of point your toes up a bit in your shoe and between your toes and the ball of your foot is what you want to wedge in that area. your toes will thank you and its not too hard.

no prob. thinking about the footjam, its sorta like setting up for a squeaker, with the tip of your shoe on the bottom of the steerer tube.

shell toe adidas = old school
and safe on the feet when riding.

I keep managing to stick my tips of my converse skate shoes in the spokes of the wheel some how.    its crazy.   one day im gona hate life when a spoke decides to take a toe off.

Huh. I always just angled my foot instead of going in toe-first.

I agree. I shove the side of my foot in there. The ball of my foot.. the part just behind my big toe.

when i try to put my foot straight it just doesn't want to do that... it's weird. same thing with kicking the tire for speed...

Side or ball of foot ,works every time.Since the 80`s
After you get that down ,take a hand off...for some style.

I also have kind of a foot-jam problem, since i got a flatland bike which is shorter than my street bike i tend to get my foot stuck between wheel en chainwheel during squeekers, i'm going to kill my big toe one of these days with this, but what is the problem here, should i scuff shorter or is this a problem of my big feet  :P

Again, it's about the angle of your foot, or the angle of the front wheel. I usually squeak in big circles because I turn the wheel; if I don't, my heel gets caught on the sprocket (because I have big feet). This will be different once I get a 9t in the back and go with a sprocket smaller than 28t in the front.
