didnt like that design from the beginning anyway.
i mean, its kool how theres nothing to hinder ur scuffing, but other than that, no good.
it makes grabbing ur fork next to impossible and what if u accidentally kicked ur foot into one of the arms?...there goes half ur spokes bye bye.
ill stick with the regular tried and tested u-brakes til someone comes up with something truely innovative, practical, and fuctional, that blows u-brakes away, like u-brakes blew side-pulls away years ago.

on a quality-built sealed front wheel, would a brake that only pressed on one side of the rim work? *just thinking out loud...

It would probably work 1/2 worst than the same brake w/ 2 arms. (1/2 less friction.) You could use a pad 2 time longer, or simply make the point where the cable attach the arm (V brake style) farter away from the pivot. I think that that def. could work, with some thinkering/ math' and testing.

I could see a small disc brake with internal cable routing working pretty well. A few months ago i was messing around with an idea not to disimilar to the reflex system. i was trying to get gyro cables to work on a standard front brake.

ive thought about that, a small disc brake.
i would assume u would need a hub-guard type thing over it to protect it tho.

it also depends on how the disc is mounted tbh, because there'd have to be a caliper on the fork leg. It would be one hell of an intricate job getting it to fit right :)
