I think I'm gonna head down for a week, sans bike but with girlfriend. Any locals want to recommend some stuff we should see/do when we're down there?Dude. Just tell your cab driver to take you to Jackson Square. Everything is right there. The riverboats, Cafe DuMonde, all the best food in the world, Bourbon Street a few blocks walk. Go on a Ghost Tour or a Vampire Tour. Visit a plantation and see the spanish moss. Visit the St. Louis Cemetary No. 1 at night. There is no vibe in the world like New Orleans. I fell in love with the place and I will go back every year now.

Word. Quinn and I are in, too.
i've decided to go to voodoo.
im now tring to decide between doing a huge mural in downtown memphis or voodoo.not sure yet.i hate decisionsDoing both is not an option?
I'm trying to book my tickets right now, for myself, Adam Jakomait, and Prasheel Gopal! Go Ontario! Too bad your complicated American Airlines are confusing and won't let me book it, but hopefully that'll be fixed by the end of the night!Actually Continental is good to fly to New Orleans. We like to use them. Fly through Houston or Newark New Jersey then here.
I am intensly depressed I cannot make Voodoo this year. Next year if I can, I will definately be down there. I'll be 22 in anycase so...legal drinking age will not apply to me! Woo!FYI, you can get away with it down here, as long as you look at least 15.

Even if you don't compete, just chillin at Voodoo will be better than taking a chance with your life in downtown Memphis. lol Been there too many times, they can keep that city.im now tring to decide between doing a huge mural in downtown memphis or voodoo.not sure yet.i hate decisionsDoing both is not an option?
i cant do both due both because they are on the same day but im starting to lean more towards voodoo just to see friends i havent seen in a while.dont know about riding in a contest. havent been riding much due to work and getting hurt left and right but who knows.
Does it cost money to enter? I just pre-registered, but can't find anything to do with paying an entrance fee?You can pay the day of the comp. It's $35 cash the day of the contest.
NYC will be there too, probably drunk most of the time.
jeffs a broke ass nigga and his frames a broke ass nigga too. someone give this poor black man a nice 18 inch frame that wont crack on him please!

What specs does he ride? I have G6 and Sinus.
I know that we are still 2 months away, but I was looking at the roster and noticed thatNot sure if they are coming. It would be a shame if they didn't. Everyone loves to watch those guys ride.
Jesse P and Pete B are not yet on the list. Scott, do you know if they are going to make it? Really missed Pete not being there last year and Jesse is always fun to watch.

count me in! can't wait to meet up with everyone from here. including you moncho. j
Scott, I'm trying to book a room at the hotel, but it's saying that there's no availability for that promotion code, and is offering me rooms at a much higher price. Do you know if all the reserved rooms are booked already? I sincerely hope not.

Hotel booked, I'll be heading down with Team Ontario (Adam Jakomait and Alex Poirer) on the Thursday, and staying until Monday.
New Orleans locals, can anyone point us in the direction of what some good touristy things to do are?
Once again, big ups to Scott (and everyone else) for all their hard work that's going in to this event. SO pumped.
See you all there!!!
Just booked my flight last week.
^^^^ man once you get there just start walking around the french quarter until you get hungry and go to a restaurant. It's so amazing everywhere, just walk til ya hit the river, and get a beer to drink on the streets. nothing is more liberating.\
is the hotel different? I thought it was garden hilton inn last time. anyway I'm registered. Sick Child bikes is reppin fully.
thanks for all your effort Scott O. I think you're gonna see an amazing turn out. you deserve it after all the work you've put in.
can't wait.
See you all there!!!

Stoked on that! I think Foakes is coming as well.
Guess who just registered. Piggy from Brazil. He is soooo good. I think he is living in Florida doing shows for Disney..
Can't wait to see that dude ride again, its been a while.
We arrive on the 29th, are there any riding areas near by the hotel?Plenty, its a warehouse district. So there are many businesses. I dont ride down there but I am sure you can find something.
I can never remember how stoked I was there year before, but right now, if someone where to ask me how much more stoked I could be about the VooDoo Jam, the answer would be none. None more stoked.Mr. Jowee, surely you can come up with some more stokedness. -_-
STOKED!
Huh, I thought the 'battle me' idea sounded cool.It really was actually. But a lot of riders just did not like it. They didn't like the whole picking people out and they didn't like that some riders would advance without even riding.
I think there was some typos on the registration. They have Bryan Huffman and Isaiah Jordan in Expert. Am I the only person who caught this? Erik and Scott where you at?They entered expert.
Making the jump to pro these days is a huge consideration, there's such a gap between top ams and pro's...You gotta like go into hiding for a couple years riding five hours a day to catch up with those guys. Percy just won expert at FU Unlimited, Isaiah Jordan is super good, along with Bryan Huffman, this comp is worth just watching for the expert...Riding in the same class as these dudes is an honour.

I am sure Brian was thinking it has been some time since he rode in a contest. I appreciate him coming back and if he wants to ride expert I think thats a good decision.
As far as Isaiah goes. I think he entered some small contest in Georgia as Pro but I believe he is still riding in Expert. Im OK with that as well.
The fact that this is an issue is ridiculous, who cares, go ride, have fun...So what you don't get first because maybe some guy that should've competed pro competed in am, big deal...No offence to Bryan or Isaiah but looking at the list of pro riders...They could not compete against that...Those are the worlds best, and maybe Isaiah isn't am anymore, but he isn't comparable to Terry Adams either, come on.
So, Cool. And I'll stick to last place in expert for now. Peace.
To me a PRO is someone who is looked up to, from young guys to old guys, and can ride really well. My riding buddy Andy Copper, is just that to me. He can't do a whopper or a crackpacker boomerang, but that doesn't matter to me. Andy is still someone i look up to as a role model for life and riding.
So no matter if your Lee Huck Edwards, Scott O'brien, Matthias Dandois or Bryan Huffman, you are all PRO's to someone. So dont worry about what class you are to be in, just support each other in this unique and fun sport. (just place yourself were you think you need to be)
Huck, don't worry about it. I wasn't offended and you were just speaking your opinion so it's cool. It's not really like one of us is right and one of us is wrong. I'll buy the first drink - I'll probably need it!!!
Amen Again! Well said....To me a PRO is someone who is looked up to, from young guys to old guys, and can ride really well. My riding buddy Andy Copper, is just that to me. I just noticed that Pete B. and Jesse P. are no longer on the registration list.(?) :huh:Uh Yeah, I don't understand either?
scott o.- is there a list of vendors that will be set up? i would prefer to give my money to them at the jam over going to the shop, simply because it's voodoo jam. Here it is.
hey scott, thanks! they say every dime counts! No Chris Day ..

big ups to jerry and damon, your contributions to the jam go beyond what the eye sees. can i have #43?
Live from 85 south.jody t,gabe k,and myself are headed to mobile now to meet stephen hearn.see you all tommorrow!
I've never been so impressed with a contest, or with comp riding as I was this weekend. At the venue while I was peeing in the trough there was a 'gentleman' in there, apparently local who found himself absolutely blown away by what was going down on the floor. He was talking in a loud excited voice on his cell phone trying to get a friend/family out there IMMEDIATELY. I remember hearing the words "THIS IS INCREDIBLE! THESE GUYS ARE DOING LIKE GYMNASTICS ON BIKES! IT'S F*&%#$ AWESOME!! YOU'VE GOT TO COME OUT HERE RIGHT AWAY AND SEE THIS!"Perfect just perfect. Thanks for posting this.
As much as I try to not hear what people talk about in rest rooms, this exchange was pretty cool. It was real neat seeing a 'first timer' totally freaking out and getting amped on flatland. I'd really like to thank everyone involved with Flatland Voodoo Jam for a job well done. It meant a lot to me to simply be there. Contests like this can accomplish things.

Hey Scott, I noticed a saying on York Uno's shirt, and I was wondering if you might have insight on what it was refering to. In my mind, it totally fits in with Voodoo jam. The saying was;wow thanks very much. The riding and people like you that make the trip here is why the event is so special.
Never has so little, meant so much, to so few.
I'm not implying the job you did to get Voodoo up and running is small, but in the grand scheme of things, the act of simply riding our bikes and doing tricks is pretty small. Despite that, I don't think there was a single person that was there that wasn't blown away and impacted by the job you did in displaying it.
Thanks again to all those involved. This was my first Voodoo experience, and it by far exceeded any expectations I could have had by watching previous year's footage (even though I've always gotten goosebumps from the little bits of the atmosphere that carried through on video). It's a damn shame that every other North American contest is going to fail in comparison after experiencing Voodoo.
