Title: Spoke Tension
Post by: aliasdck on September 11, 2022, 01:40:29 AM
For flatland only riding how much tension do you prefer on your spokes? Do you prefer them to be super tight to where there essentially is no play to them or do you prefer to leave a little flexibility?

Hello aliasdck, for me it depends a little bit on the spokes. 2 mm - 1.5 mm - 2 mm spokes for example seem to feel a little more flexible under the same tension. In general I never have tightened my spokes super strong. I think this can even be a risk for the hub flange and I don't see a benefit. So tight but not super tight works for me. The key is to check the tension regularly and to make sure that the tension is similar for all spokes in the wheel.

Hard to describe it here online but I try to get them tight enough where they barely move when I pinch and squeeze them against each other. Too tight and I worry about the hub flange breaking
