17 oz is not light for a flatland hub.

off topic, but why don't rear hubs come with the same flange diameter on both sides any more?

17 oz is not light for a flatland hub.

It's not actually a "flatland" hub.

Just to reduce weight.

That's fine. 17 oz is just not "super light" to most flatlanders. FEC Ti hub is under 11 oz. That is  super light.

thats what i thought, then i thought that the extra length that the spokes need make the overall weight more or less the same..!

Much more weight in the extra aluminum then in a few cm of spokes. Also the hub guard can be smaller and lighter.

I like the translucent lilac they are offering but I'd prefer this galactic purple but obviously can't get everything I want.
😃

I just realized they had already offered the 2020 Utopia in galactic purple, somehow I had missed that! Oh well.

Oh man, that sucks he mentioned it pops. That is literally the reason I wanted this over my current ezra hub which is basically the same design.

I'm starting to think that pop problem is inherent in the disc design. Bummer.

Received my hub from flatlandfuel. After taking it apart, I have to say it's almost identical to my current Ezra hub, except that the slack ring is two piece and adjustable, still plastic. The Ezra, you swap out different slack rings to change the slack.

I really really really hope this doesn't skip and pop like my current Ezra does. I'll report back after I build it up.

Ah the PTSD that certain unbranded or bootleg carbon rims blowing up has caused me ...

TBH i'm not too crazy about either carbon rims or their new hub. What else do you need when you have FEC making the lightest hub out there. come to think of it, some of the popping/skipping is quite startling on the FEC tho....

So many customers would get either unbranded carbon rims or bootleg rims of questionable origin .The one that cracked in half and was only held together by the tubular tire glue is my favorite .The other one was an exploded bootleg Zipp front wheel .I need to look for the photos of those .
