Title: Weight or Leverage?
Post by: LennonStephens on February 27, 2020, 08:02:10 PM
Recently I switched out my bars for a set of khe swiss miss. My reason for doing it was obviously weight, as I’ve been riding mainly back-wheel and looking to lighten the front end. I see a lot of riders going to taller bars and top- load stems presumably for more leverage despite these setups being heavier. There is of course the ability to more finely tune the angle of your bars, so that is a plus. My question is what is more important to you, or what do you think is more important; the weight of you bike or leverage over it. Obviously at some point having better leverage is equal to being lighter, as far as moving a load is concerned. The answer is probably both lol, thoughts?

Depends. If you're all about modern riding, then ypur bike weight is more than likely your primary concern. If you're more of a mid-school rider (like me) then weight isn't really an issue as long as the weight is evenly distributed throughout the bike. Fast rolling and spinning moves are easier to do on lighter bikes, IMO.
