St. Martin has some new Chase Gouin signature handlebars in the works.
PIR made the prototypes, 8" high but there will be a taller version available also.
-
Jesse Puente and Chase already got there hands on them, production should be available in April.mm
-
What's the specs on the Chase bars???
-
Lovin' my new ST Martin/Awethentrick "High-Bred" bars. Put em' on in Newport Beach and they immediately felt perfect and i didn't skip a beat. In my opinion the 6 degree up and back sweep is a good combination and the exact 25.75" width is ideal (not too wide or narrow....giving great leaning control.) 8" rise is what i've ridden for a long time...though we will be offering them in another taller version. By the way...i've never owned a cell phone nor have i been into social media. But with my new sponsor...and generally trying to find a way to mesh with modern times...i'm giving it a shot here at interacting with you all. Hope i don't look or sound too silly...haha! I'll be updating when i have something to say or show.

PERFECT!!!
Hopefully he will give a frame with a platform option
Chase always leads.. never follows
-
Any new info on these?
-
I check the St Martin website and FB daily ^_^
Nothing as of yet
They should update the public before dropping dates. That goes for all companies who do this
-
Agreed. Don't tease your buying audience.
-
I wonder why they are so wide at the stem clamp area?
-
Hmmm. No idea why the wideness at the clamping area. I think the old GT show bars were like that, too.
-
With V Bars you have to spread the load as the bar gets taller or you will have "Creaking" aka Stress so I think it was a good idea to widen that area
I've had my GT (not show) v bars since the early 90's and they are just as wide with 7 degree bs and still holding strong
I'm excited to ride these
-
Good point.

Final version of the Chase bar available end of month at Flatlandfuel
-
Thanks for the pictures outriding!
They come closer to the Flatware bars, don't you think? I like the style of the latest version more than the previous one.
Will there be different options?
-
Those look nice!!
-
Here are the final specs:
-
So disappointed they chose to change the box style  It was actually a nice looking bar
These are oddy bars basically
I'm bowing out on these.. The wait was for nothing
Goes back to the topic of why companies realse the hype then fiz

If you like the prototypes, just have PIR make you some!

I actually think they made a good call changing them.
The final design will appeal to a larger number of people, which is the aim of the game.
Since the original prototypes were made by PIR just contact them and order a set. The St.Martin ones are being made by S&M, so price is probably similar anyway.
-
So I guess it's worth asking, will the S&M built version of these also break in the middle of flatland tricks? They were super comfortable, but maybe the design was just too weak if Ody's 41 Thermal processing wasn't enough. I think they should probably address that concern.
-
I heard of a few people breaking Odyssey Chase bars but I think that must have been a bad batch or two because as far as I know the problem was addressed.
I've had mine since 2010/11, given them hell and they're still fine.
-
I'm not sure. I gave my friend my old bars which I thought were v2s and watched him break em. No idea how many riders really had that issue but it was certainly discussed a lot. I wish them luck because I do like the way they feel. If they had made the crossbar a little higher I would feel more comfortable purchasing. I feel like maybe sometimes I shouldn't negatively comment on designs that are already in production especially when my comment may be unsubstantiated or spread FUD where it isn't warranted.
-
Odyssey fixed the breaking problem with the V2.
I don't remember people breaking the V2's.
Chase’s new V2 bars have been redesigned using slightly thicker tubing and a larger bending radius to greatly improve durability without affecting the bar’s proven shape and geometry

out~riding, I recognize the spot in that picture, it's the Saint-Honoré spot in paris (opera) -_-
I was in Paris in 2004 and I loved that spot, marble floor and a roof so you can ride in the rain.
Thanks to Christoph Dassie who hosted me and rode with me and thanks to Manu Massabova who rode with me every day.
You guys are the best!
