Title: Skyscraper stem V2 to be or not to be?
Post by: Armour Bikes on October 27, 2014, 11:56:13 AM
Hello GF community!

We have thoughts of production V2 of Skyscraper stem considering all weak sides of Skyscraper.
It will have back side clamping bolts. Single cap designed to make possible taking stem from Steertube with out dismounting bar.

We want to hear your thoughts.

While I never rode that Stem, I did have great respect for you producing it.
As it offered something different.

What is the offset on this new stem?

I would like to have seen a hinge design like the odyssey Lincoln stem, and with just 2 bolts.

New one will have 33mm front offset, 45mm up reach

Hi,
I liked the idea, props for doing something different!
But I could imagine that you could not sell so much because so many riders are buying 9 inch street handlebars today which are just high enough...
I mean some good products just do not work so well on the market when they are offered at the wrong time, you know what I mean?

Is there a demand or a reason for such a high rise on the stem?

One thing that riders could consider, and that is ergonomics and space.
even if you don't need the height, using a lower bar with such a stem allows greater space / Knee allocation.

I still like the idea of a Odyssey style hinge and 2 bolts instead that allow frontal clamping.

I like the original idea but now a days it doesn't make much sense,
no one even makes low bars anymore...
