Title: Two Different Tyre Sizes?!
Post by: PandaDust on November 13, 2012, 10:56:23 AM
Well lately I've started on back wheel stuff; mega spins, peg wheelies in circles, g-turns on back wheel ect... But after switching to 1.75'' tyres I've been sliding out of the carve ins to the tricks.

For example as I go throw my back leg around and bring the bars up the back wheel just slides across the floor and I fall.

I was thinking about sticking a 1.85 or 1.95 on the back and keep a 1.75 on the front. Will this cause me problems or does anyone else ride like this? I'm not sure if its the grip or the way I'm doing it or a combination of both. The tyres are second hand and look like there's plenty of grip on the sides even though the centre is slightly bold.

Cheers P.

Cool mate,if that doesnt work then think about changing your tires not the size,i ran 1.85 for a bit and found them to be really slow with 110 psi, changed to 1.75 suelo tires and with 110 psi they are super fast and really grippy,at the moment they are half price from £39.99 to £19.99 each in winstanleys.

Cheers man. Mine's a bit slow as my tires are only 100 Psi as I don't trust the tubes I have at the moment. Do you think I would progress faster with slower thicker tires or faster small tires? I'll check out winstanleys as well thanks! :)

i've ridden 1.75 up front w/ a 1.85 on the rear for years, it won't cause ya any problems.  i think if you use just a little less force with the 1.75's you'll get used to then in no time

I run 1.95 on the back with a 1.75 in the front, only downside is it looks goofy, but shouldn't be a problem otherwise.

Honestly, just drop the pressure about 10 psi. That helps when riding on slick surfaces OR mop with straight soda on the floor. Seriously man, the 1.75's are dope and Plyte already have the softer, lighter casing, just not the Kevlar bead. You can learn the balance and angles, then go from there.

Hope that helps!!!

Ye man didn't think off that thanks! I'll try them with 80 psi but if not I'll ride with the 1.95s at 100psi or even 120. Thanks bud.

Hey guys Update!

I rode with the 1.75 for 10 mins and tried barely craving but still slipped. (Most likely down to how I'm doing it).

After an hour or so I managed to change the tire -_- and it feels alot better. It gives me a lot more room for error and feels good. Thanks everyone for your in-puts.

FYI, running a smaller tire back and a bigger tire in front will make the bike tilt up slightly, making the head angle of your frame feel a BIT more mellow.  Not enough to jump up and down about but something to keep in mind and it will make the bike feel just a tiny bit different when you are on both wheels.  Big tire in back and small in front will have the opposite effect.  Keep in mind this is only when both tires are on the ground though so maybe it doesn't matter.
