Anyone have more info on these? They look very interesting from the video with Sean.
I've heard that they will have a 13mm offset(I like this, really like my Primo Strands). I noticed no 990 mounts too, but a hole drilled in the steer tube. Is this drilled for a caliper front brake?
My dream would be to run an ACS 860(my favorite brake from BITD) or a Dia-Comp Nippon on a 13mm offset fork with a steer tube about 175 to 185mm in length. I like the idea of a brake that I don't kick when scuffing the front wheel. I always kick the 990's!!! And I have to UN-dial my front 990! It works to damn good for good brake feathering.

I would really like to see a choice of offset, my choice would be 25mm because I ride street when I'm not flatlanding... keeps things fresh
-
The hole is to big for a centerpull brake but you could probably make an adapter to fit.
-
I have 2 sets of ACS 860's...Mint!!

Would an acs boa fit? :)

I have 50 sets of ACS 860s in NOS ... seriously LOL
In regards to the forks, the tapered tubing is really nice.
However the design is not my cuppa tea.
They have the potential of being so much nicer ... but unfortunately at present they look unfinished.

you need to run a step down washer...

i was talking to Sean and Adam Zapata about them and they might make them even more tapered and slightly longer fork legs

I've wondered what the hell that big hole in many of the S&M forks was for.
Anybody have a definitive answer?
I wanted some S&M forks with offset and considered using a Nippon but the big hole just didn't make sense.

Small weight saving / a place to hang the fork from whilst being powdercoated maybe?

Only if you like chasing tiny bearings around your garage instead of riding. :-p

Bingo. Are those S&M forks with that hole? And is that a Boa? Nice F'n ride Sin!

Although, having a brake bolt go through a washer might not me something I'm into. I was thinking of using a recessed bolt like some Nippons used for flush fastening of the brake. I think the 860's had a flush allen head bolt too...or maybe I just used one on my bike BITD.
If I had a fork with a brake bolt hole that was normal size...I could always drill out the backside hole to make it work for the recessed bolt.
Damn, I'm picky.

Any company do custom forks?
-
S&M will, but they aren't cheap. I considered it for my Intrikat and got sticker shock.
-
ha, and i thought i was the only one around prefering the lower-end acs 860 over the acs boa. the boa is fine brand new, but once the plastic seals around the bearings disintegrate, the arms will start rattling themself loose and you always notice only when all the bearings have fallen off; and they are next to impossible to find replacements for.
the new s&m forks' width and shape reminded me of odyssey's director forks, really wide up at the crown area, if odyssey's directors have the same rake, i would choose it over the s&m for obvious reasons (proven, thermal 41 treatment, cleaner look & hassle-free warrenty.)

looks like a bulldog- type caliper to me, with plastic nut cover.
like byke would say:
pir does, lol;
the 860 bolt is flush at the front where it matters

I remember being about 13 when i got my 1st boa, it was good as gold until I donated it to a friend. . . It's still in pieces with bearings nicely spread all around his shed :)

Hey man-
do you want to sell 2?
-
Keep in mind those forks are just prototypes for the show. Maybe they wanted to show something clean, brakeless and pegless. Considering a good number of riders still use front brakes, I would be surprised if the production ones did NOT have mounts or at least the option. Seems like a pretty bold move if they didn't.
