Title: Hangfive to Whiplash
Post by: djb on April 08, 2012, 12:59:20 AM
When going from hang five to whiplash, do you put your foot / leg over and behind the seat, or up and over the top tube?

What is the best way... Or is it just personal preference?

I start by lifting the dead leg back and over the seat to make it whip

that is my problem too. When I lift my dead leg over the seat I always end up flipping forward. no matter how hard I try, I just couldnt nail it. Maybe if someone can demonstrate this trick with a video?

There is a how-to in the "tricks" section and the rider swings his leg behind the seat. That worked a couple of times for me, but then I read somewhere it should be like you would do a multiple whiplash, but whenever I try it that way the backend always drops - I can't hold a balance point. I was trying it that way years ago and it never worked for me.

you can do it either ways. but because it really stretchd the muscles in my leg i had to stop  doing it with my leg going over the seat. now i lift my leg up and over the top tube, works the same but easier for my muscles, it's even more confortable after a while.

Thanks Leon - (nice edit)... and everyone else.   :D  They were coming along well today. One thing I found helpful was to pay attention to your balance leg, when it starts on a back-swing that is the point to go for it, swing it behind / over the seat / back tire (as you see in the edits) while kinda stiffening the other leg and giving the frame a slight nudge with your knee.
