Since the RIP frame was such a success, KHE decided to let Bram design another Limited Edition frame called TO(Y). They just received the first prototype frames and Bram and Sytse are testing those now. So it's going to take some time until the frame will be available in the shops.
Some specs:
- Weight: 1890g
- TT Length: 18,8"
- HT Angle: 74°
- Japan Sanko CrMo
More information and photos are available in the parts section: KHE - TO(Y) Prototype

khe dadan :P
-
khe dadan :P
dunno its not really like the dadan at all, apart from the solid tube - dadan hasnt got serperate top and down tubes like this - just one giant downtube with a short TT.
This looks intresting, but those welds look ugly. Not my style.
-
Just gross
-
We should just start designing bikes with one big monotube to replace the top and down tubes. JAD.
Bram is one of my favorite riders these days.
-
hope u like it..
1 thing i wanna say about this vs dadan..
very few details are the same.
one if them is the single tube which was a little hard to keep away..
for the rest i tried do make it as different as possible..
i dont know about the dadan specs to be honnest..
just kept them real close to the rip
also sent em an email with the drawing before production of the samples started
just to check if they found it a problem and their answer was NO..
peace
-
I think that looks pretty nice as far as single tubed front ends go.
Rock on.
-
Of course we have nothing against the use of the main tube design. We are just proud to be the pioneers of using the main tube thing in flatland for the first time.
Good luck for this project!
Andras
-
it definitely looks better than the suelo and the dadan... but time will tell..
this is something i would have imagined if is was you :P
peace and best wishes for the prototype
-
VERY dissapointed. ugly. i'm quiting flatland. who wants to buy a psychopower complete for 100 quid with spare nankai?
-
this isnt in the same league as the r i p,
why not make 200 more r i ps?
-
I'm a fan of Bram's riding, and even a salty, straight tube bike liking guy like me has to admit that I kinda liked the low top tube thing (only rode one once though, it was Digger's bike when I visited York).
There are already so many bikes that look almost exactly the same, with a 18.8-.9 top tube and a tiny back end. How about a bike with all the bent tubes and the exact same dimensions as the old WTP Pony? I love(d) that bike. Not everyone likes a bike with a back end that maxes out at 12.9"
Either that or call it the TKO, like Brams part in Create. : )
-
how'd they come up with the name TO(Y)? if the RIP was successful, why not release a few more?
-

Because Brams name sold that frame, not the design. The design wasn't anything different from a number of other frames with similar specs.
-
I wouldn't ride it....
The RIP fking kicked arse. Make more of them.
-
wank
-
its kinda cool looking, but definately not my thing. i liked the RIP better for sure.
-
the rip was a hundred times better than this thing...

Andras I commend you - You have a great attitude towards the sharing of ideas at the flatland community as a whole.

I agree. It's just the state of flatland. If people liked Jesse more then they probably would have just gone for his frame.

Why wouldn't you ride it? It would feel exactly the same? It's the same in every way but looks...
KHE are really plugging the limited edition thing to keep people spending money on stuff that they don't need. . . Along the way they are also offering some great products. This could be one of them.

Having said that it's pretty clean nice looking frame. It's one of very few flatland specific frames that I think looks good. I'm not sure how well it will hold up - but I don't know sh*t - so time will tell. I fully trust Bram as a tester of products though.
As far as I'm concerned that frame is progress in terms of what Bram likes and feels that he needs from a frame. It's a simplified version of what he already had. I think it looks A LOT nicer than the RIP too.
Is it 14mm? Looks like it... Is Bram running 48's there?
-
how'd they come up with the name TO(Y)? if the RIP was successful, why not release a few more?
then it wouldn't be called 'Limited Edition' again...
-
sure, it can be called a ltd. ed. frame, if they limit how many they make. just a second edition, sorta like the paris.
-
i like it alot in orange pshhh sexyyy ^_^ ^_^
-
that's a good lookin ride. mmm. i'd like to see a slightly steeper hta, but that's just me. depending on how it tests, i'm down for seeing more along these lines. thanks for the post!

i wanted the rip cuz the looks the design and the paintjob..was sick..still want one..for my delta 3 but everyone is in love with theres..haah..and i wouldnt get it cuz bram anywayz..

i dont understand y they cant post the weight of frames in pounds and ounces. y grams? i dont like doing the math damn it

So I guess you won't be on the forum either.

silky johnson-the mutha fukkan man!!!!! its hard to keep a good man down. gimme a 21 GUN salute!!!
-
i thought about quitting riding cuz there are FOUR different size bottom brackets available for bikes.
-
thats crazyy but i would not give up flatland cause of that  it will haunt you
-
dude, i will never quit riding. i quit drinking. i could care less about 4 different b.b. seta. i'll ride with no cranks if i have to. i was poking fun at blindingsuns comment. to quit because of how a frame looks? give me a break. become a wicker furniture salesman. go stick your tounge in an electrical socket. but dont quit because a frame does not meet your satisfaction.
-
silky, i read your personal message. you are a puckered cornhole. on a bike. go ride a skateboard. i love you.

wish i was able to make a dream frame for all of u.. but u just cant..
really happy to see THAT many people likin the rip..
this is just something different than what we already had..
as far as i know the dadan was the only one with a single tube
and since this frame is built wayy different than the dadan
i hope it will satisfy some others..
will do my best for u guys to get a quality frame
and are secretly hoping for more rip's hehe

if you were to go back about 12 years or so, haro had a frame-low end crap- that was similar in design to the dadan. then jad came out with a much stronger monotube frame. then haro released a race frame called the t-bone select which looks eerily similar to the dadan. i guess its khe's turn. and thats ok. do you like coke or pepsi? sprite or 7-up? its all the same thing in theory if you think about it. it seems the main goal of most non-pro flat riders is to have the lightest bike out there. if the frame stands up to testing then so be it; we'll have a new design for a production flat frame. my friend tony is a "flat-hater". he thinks all these flat specific frames are nothing but sh*t, but i had to ask him "do you take golf clubs to a tennis match?" you use the tools and resources at your disposal to get the job done. if a different looking frame is the tool for you, then use it to get the job "fun" done.

Nobody likes the math thing ;-)
In the parts section you'll find the weight in pounds ...

Designs are becoming so similar. The future for new and innovative frames will be a challenge because i feel that a lot of ideas have been exhausted. Personally i like the frame and the specs, i just think that frame designs will soon come to a kind of writers block. Sure frames can be lightened up, but can they also achieve new looks.
Thats one mans opinion.
Make an oldschool/newschool hybrid looking frame?
-
Gawd I wish I wouldn't post when I've had a skin full lol, it aint that bad, But the RIP was Dope B!

I think you'd be surprised how many designs havn't been released that could be serious improvements to current designs aside from frames. Street kids here in richmond fabricate their own parts ALL the time. My friend neil just had his own stem machined and it weighs in at 7 ounces with a 40 mm reach! Full face plate.. bolts.. everything. Looks just like an S&M redneck too. He just knows where there doesn't need to be weight.

You know if you go to google and type in "1500 grams in pounds" it does the conversion for you?

i wasnt referring to parts, just frame designs.
I am sure there plenty of frame designs out there, its that i havent seen or am aware of them. Thats awesome that people who ride actually make their own things. I want a frame of my own.

I think it looks very cool Bram...though I run back brakes.
-
If the intersection would be made more smoothly, i'd probably like it. Now it looks kinda unfinished!
-
kind of ugly
but probably ride very good for some trick
goood work
the day i will have my own frame i will critisism but for the moment all i can say is props
-
regarding the post about it looking unfinished:
bram, you should have the two tubes going into one mitered in such a way that is reminiscent of the older bikes that were formed with lugs. if you don't know what i mean, check out an old "ten speed." in holland, maybe they're just known as racing bikes, who knows.
-
yo..
its nearly impossible to let the 2 tubes flow in 1..
i have got an idea but its wayyy harder to produce..
and im not goin to tell how to anyways heheh..
It is possible to do that.. but the frame will cost alot more..
so you tell me..... I personlly dont mind about the price you know
but i do mind about the price for you guys..
would be a little damn selfish to say like.. f*ck it i dont have to pay anyways..
rather a regular priced frame with a normal welded intersection..
than and expensive frame wich a super smooth intersection..
plus that the quality wont be any better ( if this is goin to hold up hehehheh )
just the closer looks..
ANY feedback is more than welcome..
just tell me what u like and ill keep it in mind u know..
-
hey bram, which colours has the new frame? and i think the frame is ok, but nothing for me because i have the rip and its da sh*t^^
-
hehe thanx..
dont know yet man.. the protos came in that ugly green i got.. in raw and
in zinc...
so i will paint it often to see what turns out the best..
it sure makes a big difference for the looks of that intersection..
i bet you wont see it that clearly if its in black..
but we will see..
-
i suggest you make one that is larger than 19"..how does 19.2" sound?
great. thanks, bram. you're such a nice guy.
-
hmmmm
i know serveral are waiting for a "longer" frame to come out..
but i guess thats something that wont come from me..
im pretty small u know.. 168 cm.. dunno in feet/inch/whatever
so i just cant ride a 19.2 frame..
im sorry.. but would be a bit silly to do a frame i cant ride myself heheh..
-
how'd they come up with the name TO(Y)? if the RIP was successful, why not release a few more?
Because Brams name sold that frame, not the design. The design wasn't anything different from a number of other frames with similar specs.
The R.I.P was a fairly unique frame & I wouldn't say it was just Bram's name that sold it,I would've bought it for the design not his name as I'm not an absolute fanatic about his riding...
His new design just is plain yuck!!
-
So why don't bring it out in 2 or 3 different tt lenght?
-
So why don't bring it out in 2 or 3 different tt lenght?
Cost is often an issue.
Saying "I want 100 frames all the same please" is much cheaper than "I want 100 frames, 25 green with an 18.5" TT, 25 red with an 18.5" TT, 10 black with an 18.5" TT, 10 yellow frames with an 19" TT and 30 raw frames with a 19.2" TT".
You know? It adds up and in the end the riders have to pay for it.
Besides that, its Brams new signature frame, it technically wouldnt be his frame if it was 19.2" TT.
-
yep.. in a batch of 100 frames you really cant have different tt lenghts..
so im sorry..
check out sytse's bike..
looks sooo much better than mines hehe..
the colour really does make a difference as u can see..

I dunno! I kinda like it...
-
yeah I like this frame 10000x more than the new suelo *shudders*
