Yeah, you may want to change the date to 05/08/2010. It took me a second to realize it's in May.
On a side note, I agree with that guys shirt.
-
ooooPss that would be my bad I'll fix it, what's the spot though
-
Is it ganna be @ the same Hought Park skatepark with a small flat area? were the foundations last year and prev jams @?
-
I hope not. I'd rather ride the marina than that little slab.
-
Jeap. Frustrating that it doesnt display the address????
Houghton park is CUT. Worst spot ever. If you guys want a resident LB cat to pick out some much better spots....HAPPY to provide! But riding on 12 x 12 of slippery smooth concrete is never fun. Thats like fighting with a wild bobcat but they put grease on your feet before the battle....you KNOW your ass gonna slip and fail.
I sent jesse and bobby a REALLY DOPE spot that could hold HUNDREDS of flatlanders in newport. Big props to animal1 for re-discovering this spot.
-
this is comin up quick. whats the spot fellas?
downtown long beach by the aquarium would be pretty fun.
-
Ok, did some digging and spoke to Erich Hough about the location. Its going to be part of the long beach bike festival in downtown long beach. Eric said -
"its going to be at the long beach bike festival in downtown LBC on may 8th. there is a lot of ground available, so I'm going out there monday april 26 to meet up with chad and choose the best surface. stay tuned at

The official press release states:
"The start/finish line will be located at Broadway & Promenade
with festival activities for all ages taking place throughout the Promenade and Pine Avenue areas."

So, there's no 'exact' location as of yet, but hopefully I can meetup with eric/chad tomorrow and post more info on where we will be.
Thanks!

I would like to go but like do u have to compete? i wanna just go there and just get some tips from flatlanders on what im doing wrong on my tricks
-
You don't have to compete. Just come hang out, ride, and have some fun.
-
I met with the event organizer to check the spots they had available for us, out of the three choices we picked the best. It's not perfect but it's definitely rideable.

We rode there for a second and it's level and large. The spot is two different types of ground, split longways down the center. One side is black top like the old jam spot (wilson) and the other side is concrete stamped with brick patterns. There are a couple manhole type plates near the middle but Bill rolled Hang 5 straight over the worst one with little trouble. There is good sections on either end.

The spot is right next to the finish line of the race.
Eric and his crew are setting up Savaadras ramp in the parking lot next to the flatland area.
There will be live music.
BBQ and good vibes.

The location is on the Promenade downtown LB directly across from the Blues Cafe.
See you there.
