Some basic rules:
1)I announce the first battle between 2 riders. From the moment there is a 4 day limit for those two riders to film and send the video links via PM to me! This rule is just for fairness, it's nothing if you post it in the battle thread. When both riders have sent me links- I post them in the first and the last post of their group!
2)The video can be edited or unedited, but must be maximum 45 seconds long. When the first battle series in each group are over(8 battles), then the next round adds +15 seconds. So the lenght in series are:
- First 8 battles= 45 sec
- Quarterfinals= 1 min
- Semifinals= 1 min 15 sec
- Finals= 1min 30 sec
This is the maximum of video lenght- you don't have to fill it up compulsory.
3)The run can consist of combos or just tricks, but if edited, they should be with ride ins and outs.
4)For each battle your run must be different.
5)It is forbidden to use old, before filmed videos.
New rules about the video lenght.
1)A subjective point, but I can "allow" the rider to finish his combo and do the ride out if it goes just <10 seconds more.
2)So then there is a question, which combo can be longer?
- The combo which is started not later than 15 seconds before the end of the run.
3) It is hard to tell, if the run is too long, because, it can really contain small tricks in the beggining and the long one combo is pressed in the end, to gain extra time. That will be not allowed too.
For example: If you got two combos: 26 and 32 seconds long. If you put them together in that order, then you get 58 sec and the combo did start 15 sec before the end(as mentioned before), but the main rule wich corrects it all: If your run is over time limit, it is allowed only then, IF THE LONGEST COMBO IS IN THE BEGINNING!
I'll check every video and I'll be critical about the use of extra time!
4)If the video contains title(something meaningful), the video can be longer as the title lenght
5) If the rider can pull a combo for all his given time in run, my judgement on the time allowed will be subjective and slightly positive on allowing using the extra time.
So what is the solution?
- First off, if some rules are disobeyed, I'll ask to correctly repost the video(if only the 4 day period is still active). If not, the rider can be disqualified.
- There is another solution. If you don't want to repost the video, you can still proceed with the battle, but if you surpass the time limit unpermitted, then you'll recieve voting "fines".
For the time amount you overspend, you'll pay with votes.
<5 sec -10% votes
<10 sec -20%
<15 sec -30%
<20 sec -40%
and so on.
6)After both rider videos are posted or the 4day period is over- voting starts. Others watch both videos and vote.
7)Voting is active for 2days. The rider who recieves the most votes in 2days- winner.
8)You can vote just for one rider in a battle just once. Keep in mind it's subjective, but try to be objective a bit. Stick to these principles:
a) bike control
b) originality
c) difficulty
9)As voting has finished, the winner of the battle is announced.
10) The winner countinues to fight in the finals(if they are). The looser fails. (There could be some additional battles later)
11)The next battle starts after the previous battle ends.
12)Remember to check out all of the gruops and vote, because one battle will happen in each class simultaneously
13)Some changes into limits or structure can occur.
14) The winners will recieve prizes (not known for the moment)
15) Questions please in the main signing up thread!
16) If you are busy, please let me know I can arrange your battles. The list of those who are busy is in the signing up thread!

Ondo, you stated that on the time limit, it would only be penalized if the longest combo was done last. This was not the case. Koshtriks longest combo was at the beginning. Not to mention, his foot hit the pedal on the ride out at 47 seconds. This thing is gonna be too close to be decided on a penalty. This would have been allowed in any contest. There was easily 2 seconds of riding around in there he could have taken out before submitting if known that two seconds would have been scrutinized so harshly.
Now I understand, rules are rules, and keeping that in mind, your own rules state that the over time would be allowed if the longest combo was done at the beginning of the run , which it WAS.
Finally, NO I DO NOT KNOW Koshtrik and if anything, Ive stated several times what a fan of Luke's riding I am. If anyone knows anything about my posts, its that I call it like I see it whether I know the person or not.
If Im wrong, then Im wrong, but I thought it at least deserved a second look.

I think the point was that Sonic wasnt exactly riding conservative and yet it was ONLY a warm up. Props to both of you guys. Another close run that I think is strictly coming down to style preference. Look forward to seeing more from both of you. You two are awesome.

i dont think im going to have time to film ,i rode last night and didnt hit sh*t. frenchy is the only person that has a cam here and i can only get up with him on thur.plus working at a aqaurium the weekends during the summer i work open to close. ill see what i can do but i dont think ill be able to get anything togather.

well is not hard to explain, many more of my friends vote for me cause they're now how's good I can be, and this first vid is only a little part, I know about my mistake, I should upload a more stronger vid for my first battle, but if you read good the rules of ondo tells about you can't repeat any combo in the next vids, so I prepared this simple vid for the first run,I didn't know about what kind of vid is going to upload misterpola, but whatever, so please wait until the next run for see my skillz and my runs on the front wheel.

My opinion:
Both of the runs were kinda simple. Misterpolas run was nice, liked the front wheel, but still nothing that I couldn't do. Don't want to argue or sound like a smartass, but I give credit to the rider who does something nice, what I can't do
Franflat run was all backwheel. It's hard to vote in these kind of battles. His combo seemed simple(I don't mean easy). Althought I don't ride backwheel that much, I tried to understand both trick difficulty and ---->

I think the whole point in having a Poll is so you DON'T see who voted for who. That would take away from the whole objective. People are entitled to their own opinion. Maybe after the Battles are all over and done with some people will come out and let you know why they did or didn't vote for someone.
A lot of it comes down to what viewers "saw" as cooler or looked more polished. Also, I think there is obvious "friend voting" and "pity voting". Do you need those people to explain their reasons too? I don't. Look at the last two rounds in Beginner. Myself vs iluminati and Tickzta vs annija. I am not being arrogant here, but anyone who watched those two battles based on the tricks would obviously vote for myself and trickzta. Yet somehow, iluminati and annija got votes. I am not by any means dogging either of you. Keep riding and progressing. We are all beginners and this is friendly competition. Don't take it so seriously Sergi8!!

Yes, they are both my friends and really both of them couldn't win the battles for sure. But those few votes they got maybe for some other reasons, perhaps just for annija being a girl, he he. I checked the votes for those two battles, by not voting and I would vote just for my friends if they didn't get a single vote. But I didn't because I saw, that maybe others were voting like that, he :)

I don't like the judge system. It would take away the participation of whole global-flat comunity.
The polls work. And I have never been really surprised about the battle results. Okay, I haven't always voted for the winner, but some of the battles were quite close in voting, as this one.
It's just for fun. (althought I'm stressed a bit, because I can't plan my runs :D )

Dont take it as an offence, but i really hope that your friends can keep voting for you during the contest, cause your riding isnt strong enough.

I have no friends here. I voted for Fran. I liked his run better simply because it was slow and clean. I am a sucker for scuffing tricks. Both riders performed very well!
Honestly I don't care who wins just keep posting videos guys.... and chicks!

I believe some are taking things a bit too serious here. This is an online battle. The public votes for their choice. No one can rightfully say your riding isn't strong enough. Only short clips are allowed, clearly not enough to see each riders full potential.
This battle was imo very close. Pola had a good front wheel run and Franflat had a good rear wheel run. I am friends with Franflat, but he received my vote not because we're friends, but because I was quite suprised to see his new back wheel routine, he practices alot and it shows. I have seen some of his back wheel tricks, but he has really progressed over the last year. He has a stack of front wheel stuff you will see in the next vids. He messed up a bit in the end on the rideout, but didn't touch.
Misterpola is an amazing rider that needs some recognition. He has great skills at a really young age and makes all his own parts. Inspirational. I have spoken to Martin about him a while back to see if we can get him a bit of recognition or something. Online battles are not the end of the world.

Well, based on your riding you have to base it on being crankless. Those backwheel spins you do with both feet on the pegs... if you had cranks it would be WAY harder. I rode crankless for 4 days this month while waiting for a BB and hikers and steamrollers spun around in like a 'synch!

nevertheless you are the winner, ondo. that means, that only a small amount of the voters have a problem with the crankless sh*t.. (or had other reasons to vote for ovidiu m, who rode really good!). maybe there will be someone who beats you, with some pedal stuff like pedal hang5 ;) but until now, i dont see a reason to "vote against you" just because of riding crankless- your riding is very beautiful, keep it on and do your own style

I broke my BB bearings, so I took cranks off and then I started to like riding without them. When I was riding with cranks I watched strange at those who didn't have them. And probably with the same criticism, but then I tried for myself.
Type "crankless" in the search and you'll probably find my arguments.

Well "scooter" may be a harsh exaggeration...... maybe. My argument is not in trick difficulty with or without cranks. I was and still am stating that in my opinion a bicycle without cranks is not a traditional bicycle. A large portion of sports have multiple classes to keep everyone happy. Perhaps a "crankless" class would satisfy everyone, who knows that could lead to a vintage class, super stock class, ans so on. Just a thought, either way I enjoy the online battles.

well is not hard to explain, many more of my friends vote for me cause they're now how's good I can be, and this first vid is only a little part, I know about my mistake, I should upload a more stronger vid for my first battle, but if you read good the rules of ondo tells about you can't repeat any combo in the next vids, so I prepared this simple vid for the first run,I didn't know about what kind of vid is going to upload misterpola, but whatever, so please wait until the next run for see my skillz and my runs on the front wheel.

Ondo, I'm not hating on you... And I didn't vote "against you" I vote for the other guy based on my personal opinion of whose run I believed was harder/better. Big difference. If it were you vs me I'd have voted for you, based on difficulty of runs, but given similar runs/tricks the guy with cranks will always get my vote.

I hate to be like this. But Misterpola deserved to advance. The fact that the other guy OPENLY admitted HIS FRIENDS voted for him due to what they have seen him do and not based on his run, he should be disqualified. Its Bullsh*t. You all are absolutely correct, this was supposed to be fun, and Ondo tried to do something so great. There are rules to be followed as far as the runs, and those are enforced. There should be a rule against what the other guy openly admitted to as well. I was already getting a little salty from a couple of the attitudes in other battles, unfortunately this will make my final decision for me to no longer participate in these. Niether as a judge nor as a competitor. I wish luck to all the remaining participants and Im sorry that a couple people are ruining what was supposed to be simple fun and friendly competition to motivate progression. Its a fu*$ing shame.
PS. Ive NEVER met Misterpola, I have based my opinion SOLELY on his abilities.

Its more of a misunderstanding than arrogance. He wouldn't deliberately rub someones nose into it. He is a peaceful guy and the upsets were completely unintentional, believe me.
Its very common for people speaking English as a second language to be mistaken about their sentences and people getting the wrong message.

LOL, I'm really glad you noticed this, and posted it! I don't think I've rode once this year without it being at least somewhat windy.. On this day a storm was coming in when I was filming and arrived about five minutes after that second combo was pulled(not quite a tornado, but it felt like it when I was riding, lol).. Also had crazy amounts of rain and cooler weather so far this year.. Seems like summer just started a few days ago with some warmer weather..

Great riding spix, I've never been able to get a new trick or link on tape the first day. You definetly have a great attitude for riding. Thanks to everyone else for the positive comments on our runs.

thanks mike! yes, my first ever battle vid was the one against tj.. well i don't think i have progressed a lot, but these battles motivate me like nothing else.. i push myself to do new stuff all the time and it is a lot of fun:) i already have some new tricks for the next round of battles:)
my progression is slow compared to other riders but i don't mind.. i really like the feeling of getting closer to the ideas i have in my head..

Thanks for all the great comments for both of us! tod.borndead, really glad you commented on that g-turn, it's a crazy difficult trick and I was wondering if anyone really noticed it.. I don't know what it would be called but it is a carved nosewheelie turbined into a g-turn.. My ultimate goal would be to get it going foward again after rolling backwards(No kicks just turbine), but that next step makes it almost impossible without a kick to get it going foward again..
I'm trying to keep the progression going as hard as I can Justin. These battles were a fun way to push myself, although I didn't get most of the stuff done thats in my head, ha! My goal for these battles was every trick I submitted was going to be new for me or at least pushed one step further.. Considering I originaly signed up mainly to keep everyone in the battles, I'm happy how it pushed me some..
Paradoxium, I'm glad people appreciate my wide range of riding, my riding is ALL over the place.. This does make it more difficult to really push certain styles or tricks to that next level were certain tricks would really stand out. I would like ALOT more time then 45 sec. and 1 min. lol!

Last night when I was making the update I was comparing stats. I was thinking it would be cool if I could type a 2 names in and the spread sheet would give me stats. Thats exacly what I have been working on all day today.
For those who don't already know...YOU TUBE can teach you a ton of stuff. Everthing I have put into this sheet I have learned from You Tube these past few months. Any how you don't even have to type in names you can use a drop down list and do a rider comparision. It works only for the class that your looking at. I don't see much of a need to compare class to class as of yet. Anyhow here is what I basicly typed out last night generated by the spred sheet....NIFFTY!

For every trick that he has that is easier without cranks, there is a trick he will NEVER be able to do without cranks. No pedalling deathtrucks. No Pedalling mega spins. None of the combos of these tricks.
There are tons of tricks that he will NEVER be able to do, so in the end he is only limiting himself. So let him ride with no cranks, you dont have to respect his choice, but just let it go. Its been beaten to death already. He rides crankless, he has no intentions on getting cranks regardless of how much crap he gets about it. Lets just put the whole crankless issue to bed already.

No nose manuals. That's the best trick I really miss. :D But instead I'll learn back peg nose manual- it's sick.

I'm not sure how you'd set them up. My bikes old so it still has the cups for the berrings. all i did was screw the cups together with out the berrings so it wouldn't roll then just screwed them to the end of the axles. If you can figure it out they're pretty fun to roll around on. Right now I only have the axle to stand on since I had to put my pegs back on my other bike. I don't see why people have problems with people who don't like to ride with cranks. Its just stupid if you ask me.

Thanks for the mostly positive comments guys, It was fun being able to participate with out really ever needing to leave the house. I don't get to ride outside very often because I have a family and all the responsibilities that go along with that so that's the reason for the garage vids.

And about the smoothness, I think Luke really has it. He has dialed it all. Although I can be just as smooth just doing opposite whiplashes to hang 5. :P

It was a joke. Hence, the rolleyes and tongue sticking out of face thingie. I even followed it with "In all seriousness". I wouldn't vote on someone just because they got out of the garage...just like I don't hold it against Ondo for riding crankless.
And why would you be so insulting as the ask why some people are allowed to vote? "Old school thinking" isn't killing flat...elitist attitudes are. To me, the beauty of these online battles are that everyone can vote. These battles are very DYI and are inclusive to everyday people/riders. It takes all kinds...
And I feel flatland is a very subjective matter...some people like a smooth, stylish run more than hard tricks. I enjoyed BOTH of their videos...for different reasons. They both killed it! Ondo has progressed so much, and hits really difficult tricks. Luke, at least to me, has a very polished a dialed approach to his riding. He makes it look easy and smooth.
Don't want to argue...just wanted you to know that I was joking.

Thanks Ondo for doing these battles. You might have lost this round of battles...but I think it's pretty obvious how much you have progressed, and how much motivation these battles have given you...so in the end, you still win! :beer:

i voted for ondo. why? because i based on all his runs from the qualifying to the quarters and through the finals and each run has different hard tricks. check it to appreciate ;D
