The thread should be locked during battles during voting. Both videos should be submitted at the same time.

The solution is simple...When riders upload videos they send the links to you....and then you post them at the same time...that should work -_-

Good ideas Mark! Im thinking 10 riders for each classThere should be at least 8. Because the first are quarterfinals- 4 proceed. Then semifinals- 2 get further- and final.

If it is only one video per rider. I think I might be able to swing it, but if it has to consist of multiple videos then I may have to pass, because it would be kinda a 1 shot/day deal on getting our schedules coordinated to do a video run.

I trully love being apart of the active community. Here is a Grand Idea if its not already in palce. Make a specail page on Global Flat that will Archive the Winners of each battle. Along with the year and month that they won. If that is started now then it won't be so hard to keep up with latter on. I was thinking Battle Hall of Fame!
Another reason to get people to sign up because there name would become apart of the permenate records for Global-Flat. I really do believe in this Global Online Battle. I think it can become a VERY LARGE event someday. With prizes at the end of the battles.
Okay lets take it another step further and give Points Recieved for each Battle that you particiapte in. Like First place gets 100 Second gets 90 and so forth. At the end of the year we Announce the Gobal Over all Winner. From the last sets of Battles it looks like it took about 2 maybe 3 months, winter will kill some riders so it would have to wrap up before winter comes. I could see handeling at least 3 Online Battles in 1 year maybe 4 as long as there are not too many delays.
It would be cool if all riders could share there data like this -_-

I honestly think there should be another class. Intermeidate. I know it makes it that much more difficult to run the battles having another class. But at the same time it provides a fair balance for the True Beginners and those that are not ready to compete at the "EXPERT" level..
here is what i think about all this classes : riders should be placed in classes by time of riding not their level of riding. why? let say two riders have identical combos but one who is riding for5 years is a litle but smoother and gets more votes than other who is only riding for about 2 years. but if smn is at the same level in half as much time is obviously a lot better imo.

Why does time make a differance? I have been riding my bike since 19...now 41. Still making progression but not nearly as fast as others. According to time means that anyone with X amount of time should be at X level. That is not always true.not that it should be at X level, but if smn is capable or dedicated so much, that can learn the same trik or combo or whatever in X ammount of time and the other in X x 2 amount of time, 1st one is clearly better rider. like i sad

Regular forum visitors probably already noticed the <strong>online video battles</strong> that were going on in the forum lately. Our forum member <strong>Ondo</strong> came up with the idea and does an amazing job organizing the battles. Basically everyone can take part by signing up for one of the <strong>three classes </strong>(beginner, expert, master). The only thing you need is an account in our forum and a video cam+YouTube. Yes Joe your right...but I am not even close to a expert level as of today's standard. I am what you call a Intermediate Rider. I have a few tricks under my belt and I am starting to put them together in links. Now if my hitchiker was spinning...or cross footed...or Turbined then Yeah I would be right in the mix. Alright here is my opinion for what its worth. I completely understood the no intermediate class when this first started. However, This has gotten big enough that even with a 16 rider cap on beginner, people are being left out. On top of that, there is a good 8 riders that belong in an intermediate class if there was one. With some of the guys that are entering beginner, its not even a contest anymore. So now you have people wanting to enter beginner that are being left out because the cap has been met. Then you have guys in that class that dont belong and are gonna kill the true beginners.
Now that this thing has grown, I think its time to add the intermediate class that sooo many other riders/participants have been asking for. I cant see where it will be any more difficult to vote on one more class.
Now the guys that werent ready for expert, but arent exactly beginner can have a legitimate class. Their spots in the beginner class can be filled by the riders who wanted to enter and are being left out. Plus, the winner in beginner has a class to move up to. Last battles winner was not ready to step straight to expert, but could have moved up to an intermediate class.
Just my opinion, but the addition of the intermediate class seems like the most logical/fair solution. What fun is a beginner gonna have competing against a rider who is just below expert status but not quite there? How accomplished would that same rider feel to win the beginner class anyways? When this was smaller, I completely understood your point of view, but now that its gotten bigger, I think these battles can more than accomodate the addition of another class. Not to mention, there may be EVEN MORE participants as I know several riders who are simply not participating due to not being beginners or expert.
Just my opinion for what its worth,

Ok, I'll create it, but the problem, that there are just 3 groups promoted and there isn't no deal about prizes in the 4th group! Maybe I can ask for something for the 1st place, but the other groups will recieve prizes for top 3 places.
I didn't even know there were prizes and such. I just wanted to ride and use this as motivation to learn some new tricks really quickly.

just skimming last few pages, am I correct in assuming:
1) 1 minute length video.
2) If you make it to the next round, you need to shoot another 1 minute video of more stunts.
3) You CAN use same stunts in subsequent videos, however, variety will help out.

I thought you had to film after your name was posted, now you say you can make a video now and send it in. That's means you could get more than two videos and then decide who goes against who based on the videos, that doesn't seem right.

as much as mark's idea seems very good, i think it would generate too much work, and all the stats written down also depend on how many people vote..

just a quick tip for people filming themselves....
keep your water bottle...or backpack...or whatever other object you choose at the edge of the screen or on both edges..left and right...
you may need to check it a few times...but nothign sucks more then pulling a combo and then realising you were off-camera / too far to the side...

My system is called pieces of paper. It's a pretty advanced lottery technology.
I can't say any plans until quarterfinals, then it will be easier.

Here is the Latest Update. When you go to the Total Group Page it now showes the Highest amount of votes in that class and the rider along with the Highest Amount of votes overall. It took me 4 days to figure out how to do that. I finally figured it out. Its just like flatland to me. There is something I want to do but really don't know how, but I don't give up and I keep trying. Eventually ya get it!!!

I think this online battle is a terrific thing, and I've listed these things only in hopes of making it more successful, and not as negative criticisms. I hope I'm not out of line saying this stuff, but these are issues that I've seen that I think can be improved upon to make this thing smoooth.

I have a question,comment,concern... I am not trying to ruffle any feathers or start any crap, but I don't think it's right/fair to make it to the finals on an uncontested win. No offense to anyone but for example, this has happen in the Beginner Class. If I lose my battle here in a few days I would automatically get third and I am competing, when someone else gets an uncontested win and basically has 2nd locked in. Just stating a minor concern so please don't torch me for it...

An idea: maybe in this case you have the finals... The loser would then face the loser of the semifinal battle... In my case is particular... I've been really sick with pnemonia and have had no computer... I don't think I am going to be well enough to film a video by monday... So, maybe you have the final between trikzta and flatwax and then I would face the loser for 2nd and 3rd?
What about a penalty as well per day, like -5 votes per day.

How someone decided to set up their bike should not count against them.
So long as there are two wheels, a frame, and handle bars, it should not matter. Counting votes against Ondo for his lack of cranks is as audacious as counting votes against Chad Johnston for his pegless bike. After all, a flatland bike has 4 pegs, right?

it's really cool that I'm starting to recieve that kind of questions more and more lately.
so. I'll open a topic in the general section about the judges and some sugestions of course, but I have an idea about the sign up, so it won't start already. Probably after 2 weeks. And the battles would start somewhere in april. The 1# battle comp started in begining of april, so it's okay.
I'm kinda judging by myself, but it's really a lot of snow here in Latvia and when the pavement started to dry, it snowed again, oh. And I believe it's a problem with riding for some too. Sorry, for this delay, I know that some have practically summer all year long, but let's wait a bit shall we.

I have to say, i am really loving these online battles. I just had found out about them probably a week or two after the sign ups for the 3rd online battles had ended. I will certainly be participating in the beginner division next time out and i really cant wait. So my question for you Mr. Ondo is when will the next round of online battles be scheduled to begin? Hopefully fairly soon so i am able to put in a lot of time before school starts again!
nothing is scheduled, but as you know, the 3rd round will end in about 10 days, the sign up for the next round could start around 10th July.

well, I mean, the sign up could start pretty fast, but as in this round, it toke a long time for everyone to send their videos in and you were already anxious.as a beginner, i would like the extra time(24th) to try and get a couple more things down.
I'm going on a trip to Germany in probably 12th July, back on 24th maybe. I could just leave the sign up open, or I could open it after I get back.

Ondo, just keep me posted on the closure date for 2010 battles, (I am in the mode of flip of coin, meaning time to take a trip).
If the closure is to bring about a Round 4 in the various categories, we'll support the finial riders who will place first only.

I agree with Havok. It was 41c at one point yesterday with 80% humidity. I am hardly riding at the moment even in the mornings now because it's SO f*cking hot it's dangerous to be outside.

Winter is when I ride the most. The heat is more detrimental to riding than cold weather no matter which way you look at it. Riding in the cold is an inconvenience, but riding in the heat is straight up dangerous.

I haven't taken my bike out of the house in almost 2 weeks because of the 105 plus degree Vegas weather running rampant right now. I remember trying to ride when I first moved here and dealing with a gnarly sun/heat induced migraine the whole next day... at night it's still in the 90's, so that's not much better. Plus hot wind on top of all that. Suuuuuuucks...

I think I'm pretty much retired from the battles for now... fun times, but I'll be sitting out the next few rounds because I'm really shut down till at least September - October for decent riding time. I'm planning to still tape a few random links every so often to put up for fun, but no more online battles for me. At this point, I'm sort of itching to compete in a real live contest again just to see if I can hang ;D maybe another KOG if I can scrape up the funds for a trip to Japan next year or whatever nearby event pops up in the U.S.I saw KOG and I know its KING OF GROUND but for a second I thought.

Basicly I get the videos and I know the level what each group should be, so I sign them up in the right group. If I have problems choosing the class, I discuss it with judges.

there's a list of riders who have signed up, so we're starting the competition when there are 16 riders in each class!
Don't worry, just go out next weekend and film some good stuff! 50 seconds long..
I hope to see some edits of out takes from filming, after this round; i.e. crashes and stuff like that. Those are great.
Could you also please let judges KNOW when battles are beginning and what categories they are judging? I was under the impression I was judging everything and that the battles hadn't started and I was sorely mistaken to find out a whole round had already passed....?
Ondo, I noticed you are not making a new post for the battle videos in Round #6 within each thread, but just replacing the previous ones with the next battle.. I would suggest you do it the way you used to, so people won't miss battles, and in the future the thread can be looked at and see exactly how things went down..
